On Second Thought...
A safe distance away Marinelle pulled up her horse and glanced back to see that four more goblins had crested the hill and were now swarming towards the disrobed monk.
Sigh. He'll never escape on foot and the odds are against him alone.
The lead warrior rushed onward, grimacing every time his arm swung forward thanks to the arrow buried in his shoulder. Years of border skirmishes with the goblins had taught Marinelle that they were cowards that relied on their officers to maintain any semblance of fighting discipline.
The least I can do is snipe the officers to even the Lizard's odds.
She cantered back into bow range and began to circle the melee, firing another electrified arrow towards the warrior that still had her first shaft buried in his shoulder.
The crackling blue barb sliced through the air before sinking into the warrior's eye socket, the razored edge piercing through to the brain stem. The warrior's body twitched and convulsed as lightning coursed through his nervous system until he collapsed, a faint burning smell rising from his body. The skirmishers under his command broke in terror for the cover of the woods, bouncing stooge like off each other in their pell-mell retreat.
Marinelle had rejoined the fight.
She glanced up the hill at the second band approaching her impromptu ally and shouted out "Target the leader!"
