Chapter 4
by J4KBNimble
Do you listen?
Oh come on, how can you not listen to a crying girl?
You are feeling distinctly uncomfortable, standing in the middle of a forest with a crying girl trying to explain herself. Maybe if you listen she'll stop. You stroke her hair. "Shhhh, its ok, ok, come on, tell me what you have to say, I'm all, ears......" Speaking of ears, do hers seem a tad, pointy? You push the thought aside as she sniffs and wipes her eyes. "You see," She says, so quietly you have to strain to hear. "I'm not exactly, like you." You can't help it. You snort. "Um, yes, that's a tad obvious, see, I'm a boy, you're a girl, and,"
She stamps her foot in irritation and manages to catch your toes under it. "That is not what I mean! I mean, oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.." You give her what is supposed to be a reassuring smile while privately wondering if she just broke bone. Looking unconvinced at the smile, she none the less explains. "You are a human, and I am an elf."
There is a long moment of silence here, puntuated only by insects and birds. She looks at you with a small triumphant smile. A small smile forms on your lips, followed by a snicker, then a chuckle, until finally you're rolling on the forest floor, clutching your ribs and howling with laughter while she stares in disbelief and annoyance. "I'm serious!"
"Hahahaha, oh, oh of course, of course you are, yeah, and I'm, hehe, I'm Legolas, oh, oh this is rich, oh god, Hahahahahah!!!!!!!" She scowls and turns away with a humph and slowly you get control of yourself, panting and wiping at your eyes. You look up and you grin fades. "What? You can't be serious."
"Of course I'm serious!" She snaps. "Why would I lie?!" She's pouting slightly now, something that makes her, well, hot. You ignore the little burst of heat the sight gives you and stand up. "Come on, a joke's a joke, but lady, there's no such thing as elves. They're fairy tales."
"Fairies don't even have tails, you stupid twit! And Elves do so exist! I'm live proof!" She tosses back her hair, revealing that her ears are, in fact, pointed. You smile the kind of smile used when explaining something to a stubborn child when you know you're right. "Very nice, but I can buy a pair at the joke shop for 2.50. Who put you up to this anyway?" She scowls, which somehow makes her even hotter, and storms over, glaring up at you and slaps you in the face, hard. It stings, but not bad. "Would you believe me if I led you to our kingdom?"
"Sure." You grin, and she stops, slapping her hands over her mouth, eyes wide. She starts whispering. "Oh no, no no no, can't take humans, no, the father would be furious, oh dear...." She looks up at you and smiles endearingly. "Oh, let's not do that, how about you and I just, take a little walk, look at the birds, maybe, get closer?" She gives a wink and a coy little smile.
Do you persist to "see her kingdom" or go for a nice little "nature walk"
