A vague feeling of unease flared up in Laura's mind, but then swiftly vanished. It was good to see her mother so happy, enjoying the attentions of her gorgeous cousin. Just as Laura herself was going to enjoy the enchanting Carmilla's affections. As she opened the door to her room, Laura heard her mother give an ecstatic scream. "Wow," she said to Carmilla. "Mom sure is lucky."
