Chapter 22 by Manbear Manbear

Does Dr. Baxter agree to join these privateers on their raid?

Of course!

Dear Sir Williard,

It should come as no surprise to you to hear that I at once agreed to join this brave company. The ability to strike back at the villainous Yankee raiders who attack without honour and flee back into the emptiness of the void can not be wasted. I confess that at the time I was flattered that these brave men had been willing to extend their brotherhood to include me, but even now after a chance to reflect I am confident in my decision. Let me be clear my lord, that at this moment in time it is uncertain if the American Raiders who struck at Kandar came from this lunar outpost at all, but it seems likely that they used this base as a staging point for their attack. Even if these raiders had not taken sanctuary on this moon, the illegal mining of soma within Rajah-4's jurisdiction was as much an affront to the sovereignty of our empire as any attack on Rajah itself.

After toasting our newly formed fraternity with a very fine Earth brandy we spent some small amount of time discussing the apportionment of any proceeds gained from this reprisal. While the intent of the raid is not in the least bit mercenary, it is possible that there may be some financial gains especially if we happen to find the outpost's warehouses full of raw soma. It is an indication of our relationship that all five of us agreed to split the proceeds with one extra share to be awarded to Lord Black as the owner of the ship, and one last share to be awarded for recognition of extraordinary service or gallantry to be determined at the conclusion of our venture. Once again, I want it noted for the record, that this is not a mission based on avaricious profiteering and that I am confident that each and every one of these men would pursue this plan even if it were clear that there was no chance of gaining a single copper pence.

I really must get some rest but before I retire for the night, let me describe the grounds and buildings of Lord Pollard's abandoned estate. On our return to the Peach family Hunter acquiesced to my urging and landed his gyrocopter on the overgrown lawns of this amazing complex. The architecture possible here on Rajah with its lower gravity is spectacular, even though the difference is relatively small (89.8% of Earth gravity) it is amazing what this means. Just as on Rajah-4 animals and trees can grow to to astonishing size, the dome constructed by Lord Pollard's men is unique in its majestic grandeur, the dome rose like a sculpture of glass from its foundations. The main building of Polly's Folly as Hunter insisted on calling it, was the giant dome that I had first seen as we flew over it, the dome was a masterpiece of modern architectural engineering consisting of steel girders and planes of tempered glass nearly half the size of a soccer pitch.

The native saplings on the ground's of the estate appeared to be several years old, and if the holdings were left untended for as little as three or four more years the great forests of Rajah will swallow it whole again. Based on the negligence of the lawns and gardens around the I was pleasantly surprised at how well the buildings had stood up to the years of abandonment.

The interior of the main structure was subdivided like a honeycomb into hexagonal enclaves. Each of these seven walled subsections had been planted with native flora of distinct eco-zones of Rajah. Many of these plants were suffering from the neglect of the abandonment, but to my surprise the automatic systems were still working to regulate temperature and humidity levels and by walking from one hexagonal zone to the next I was able to get a sense of the wonders of this marvelous planet. The only signs of live fauna were scurrying lizards, flying indigenous 'birds' in the treetops and other small furry creatures but the dome also had skeletal remains of larger creatures that must have met a gruesome **** once they were no longer fed or cared for by by the staff of the Lord Pollard's zoological dream.

The central hexagonal area housed Lord Pollard's personal living space for his household and the rooms, offices and laboratories needed to carry out the ambitious scientific zenological studies started by this wealthy executive. It was apparent that the final exodus from the estate had been made in chaotic disorder; likely most of the occupants believed that they would be returning to their lives in this amazing complex because almost all of the rooms were still filled with personal belongings. Most of the easily carried objects of high value had been looted from the estate, but all the furnishings including furniture, appliances and fixtures were in place. To my great surprise, the examination rooms and surgeries were still mostly intact including cabinets filled with surgical tools, microscopes, scales and other paraphernalia.

Were these facilities not so terribly isolated accessible only by gyrocopter or (possibly) by boat, they could have made a wonderful addition to any institution dedicated to science. If I had the vast funds needed for its restoration I would endow King's College with its first affiliation outside the solar system. To see these grounds used for the intention originally planned would do wonders for my tortured soul. Alas, the funds needed for that kind of endevour far exceeds even my most wild dreams; after all Sir Williard, remember that not even the accumulated wealth of one of the highest placed Lords of the East Orion Company could keep this dream afloat.

On one final troubling note I will end this installment. I must report that once again I am plagued by a raging erection. Not even the effort to describe Lord Pollard's decaying dream have been able to keep my lustful loins from picturing Miss Peach on her hands and knees before me as I gently work first one and then another lubricated finger into her puckered anus as I prepare her to take my manhood. It is my hope that after a night's rest this demented desire will be put to rest and I will be able to interact with Miss Peach in a manner that would make you proud.

I can only hope that the plan to raid the illegal soma mine on Rajah's moon will be set in motion soon. A week away from the distractions of all these temptations might be just the break I need to break this cycle of lust and regret.

Is our young Doctor able to live up to his new resolution?
