Chapter 9 by lightsout

Is Andy tempted by her words?

Of Course he is

"Theagenia's ," you said finally, your voice rough with conflict, eyes meeting hers as you fought the pull. "I'm... tempted. Dear me, more than I should be. The idea of building something here, with you—enforcers watching our backs, turning this accident into strength... it's hard to say no. But I don't want to hurt people. Not really. If we go too far, it'll blow back on us, and I'm no villain. I just want to survive this mess."

Pausing now, the weight of the decision pressing down, then leaned in closer, curiosity overriding caution. "What do you have in mind? How would we even secure this thing without it falling into the wrong hands... or make more like you to help protect us?"

Theagenia's eyes softened further, a flicker of understanding crossing her features as she absorbed your words. She stepped back slightly, giving you space to breathe, though her presence still filled the room like a warm current in the cold lab air. Her damp hair clung to her neck and shoulders, framing a face that blended serene beauty with an undercurrent of calculated intellect—traits inherited from her donor, though you had no inkling of the depths they reached. She glanced at the console, her fingers tracing the edge of it absently, as if drawing inspiration from the glowing interfaces.

"Andy," she began, her voice steady and resonant, carrying the weight of innate genius she wielded effortlessly. "Your heart is in the right place—survival without harm. That's why we'll approach this with precision, not recklessness. Securing the Genesis Engine starts with layers of defence, blending science and subtlety to make it invisible and impenetrable."

Theagenia paced slowly, her bare feet silent on the tiles, the play of light on her muscular form a distracting reminder of her enhanced physique.

"First, the physical," she said, her words tumbling out in a rush, barely pausing as if the ideas were bursting forth too quickly to contain. "We reinforce the facility. I can synthesize chemical compounds—stronger than steel, flexible like polymers—to seal the entrances. Mix in biological agents, like engineered enzymes that **** unauthorized DNA on contact, turning intruders into harmless sludge before they even reach the elevator."

Without missing a beat, Theagenia's voice surged forward, eyes blazing with inventive zeal. "And for the arcane touch... wards. Magical barriers drawn from ancient rituals, invisible fields that disorient minds, induce amnesia, or redirect paths. My donor's knowledge runs deep in these arts; I can weave spells into the very walls, powered by the Engine's energy core, making this place a labyrinth only we can navigate."

The air crackled around her as Theagenia spun to face you, words pouring out in an unbroken torrent. "Digitally, we encrypt everything. Quantum-level algorithms—I've got the formulas in my head—to lock the console. Biometric ties to us alone: your fingerprints, my unique genetic signature. Any hack attempt triggers a cascade—data wipes, false trails leading to dead ends, even viral countermeasures that fry invading systems."

NowTheagenia paused, her hand resting on the pod she'd emerged from, her expression shifting to something more visionary.

"As for more like me..." Theagenia began, her voice laced with a growing excitement that made the words spill faster. "Enforcers to protect us, not conquer. We'd select templates carefully—heroes with proven integrity, like Wonder Woman or Supergirl, reshaped just enough for stability and loyalty to our cause: safeguarding this power from ****."

A subtle smile curved her lips as she leaned against the pod, ideas cascading out without pause. "Super Clones programmed for vigilance, not blind obedience. They'd patrol the perimeter above, blend into the city as sentinels, detecting threats early."

Theagenia's gestures grew animated, her free hand slicing through the air to emphasize each point, breath coming quick but steady. "Biologically enhanced with regenerative tissues I can design, chemically armoured skins resistant to toxins, and magically attuned senses to spot illusions or stealth."

With a decisive nod, she pushed off the pod, stepping closer once more. "A small cadre—three or four at most—to start. Enough to deter, without drawing attention. We grow them quickly, imprint them with defensive protocols tied to this site, ensuring they act as guardians, not aggressors."

Theagenia moved closer again, her blue eyes searching yours, a gentle smile curving her lips as she placed a hand on your arm. "This isn't about empire-building, my love. It's balance—power held in check, used only to preserve what we've found. But if destruction feels safer... I can guide that too. Overload the core with a magical feedback loop, turn it all to slag in seconds. The choice is ours. What do you think?"

What Does Andy think?
