Chapter 6 by minor-alterations minor-alterations

What did she do to your family?

Nothing

“Easy,” Ava says. “I haven‘t altered anything about them. Unless you want me to. All I did is give them a credit card that never runs out of dollars, freed them from their domestic obligations and suggested to take a six-month break in Europe, so that I and my boyfriend have the house all for our own. And they happily agreed. I can be very convincing.”

Given that your family is now fortunate and provided for, you can‘t tell if you should be thankful or outraged. Actually, with a pile of money, Ava has helped you out of a financial crisis, although her real motives are as transparent as glass.

After some seconds of awkward silence, Ava breathes out excessively. “Ok, as you want, I‘ll bring them back home.”

“No.” You shake your head. “Wait. It‘s ok. They‘re good. They haven‘t been on vacation since... forever. And I think you‘re right. We should spend some time together.” What you say then even surprises you, yet you have to admit that it is the absolute truth. “Those powers start to grow on me. It‘s fascinating, really. You‘re fascinating.”

How does she react?
