What divine boon do you choose?
Nothing
The voice waits, a cosmic salesman ready to pitch you on the latest model of divine powers. But the offers all sound like a cheat. A second chance at life is more than anyone gets to ask for. Adding a superpower on top of that feels like it would cheapen the experience. You want to do this right, on your own terms, with no strings and no cosmic asterisks attached.
"I'm good," you project into the nothingness. "I don't want anything extra."
A beat of silence. "...You what?" the voice asks, sounding genuinely confused. "You don't want a thing? Not even, like, the ability to always find your keys? It's a popular low-tier choice. Very little paperwork."
You stick to your decision. There's another pause, followed by a sound that can only be interpreted as a divine shrug.
"Huh. Okay, then. Your call," the voice says, sounding almost pleased by the lack of effort required. "Makes my job easier, I guess."
"Alright, then. Off you go."
The nothingness dissolves into a kaleidoscope of color and sound, a fast-forward blur of birthdays and scraped knees, homework and daydreaming, all leading to one single moment...
Happy birthday!
