Nothing Exciting

Your days waiting for your husband were uneventful, but useful. A new phone, a laptop, even a camera on top of what his dowry entitled just to make him feel more welcome and comfortable once he finally arrived.

For yourself you bought new clothes and makeup. Treated yourself to makeup, and spa treatments, you felt refreshed after the stress of your wedding. While your purchases kept up your conservative outward appearance, you decided to spurge a small penny on new lingerie. Not that you intended to show anyone, but the freedom to finally be able to make these purchases was too tempting to pass up. For the first time you started to wear things, push-up bras, you purchases lacy sheer baby dolls and outfits you could never have pictured yourself in months ago but now secretly wore with a devious glee. You spent countless hours plucking and grooming yourself, teaching yourself the makeup skills you had always wanted to learn but had never been allowed. In a few short months you felt more mature, like a real adult. You felt excited for the first time about married life, if not for having a husband, for having the autonomy to act as you had always wanted. Still some habits were hard to kill and you shied away from encounters with other men and waited patiently and loyally for your life-bound stranger to arrive in your new home.
