Did the police catch him?
Not yet
"God, these heels are so uncomfortable for driving. My foot is having trouble with the pedal," Robert complained. In a fit of anger, he tore off the black stilettos he was wearing and tossed them to the side. "Also, why would this woman wear such a tight skirt when driving? My legs can't spread far apart to control the pedals comfortably." Robert tried to stretch his legs to accommodate his feet below, realizing that his black skirt now stretched and retreated above his mid-thigh. It was high enough that only his underwear and nylons prevented full exposure of his nether region, and even then, it wasn't much. "Ugh, these clothing just had to be uncomfortable..."
Driving along the freeway, he caught a glimpse of a familiar Porsche with the oncoming traffic. Robert could never forget the paint job on the car of his ex's new husband, as it sported a shiny red with faint white lines that resemble lightning bolts. Naturally, Robert gave a scornful look at the driver, although he wasn't able to verify his identity right away. Robert decided to squint for a closer look...
Suddenly, his perspective changed, as he realized that he was facing the opposite direction. Loud rock music was screaming in his ears. One of his arms was hanging out the window. Robert blinked as he inspected his new surroundings. He was no longer sporting the suit that the woman was wearing. Instead, he was wearing ripped jeans and a simple T-shirt with a graphic of a rock band. Glancing at the rearview mirror, Robert saw a young (late 20s) blond man looking back.
"Wait, how did I...shit, did I switch when I took a look at this guy? I didn't know it was this sensitive...," Robert said in his gruff voice.
"Well, at least I'm not that son of a bitch who took my ex away," he stated, as he took another glance at his new look. The ex's husband was older and had dark brown hair, a clear departure from the younger, blond hair man he now possessed. Perhaps it was a blessing, as Robert felt like he would have punched himself squarely in the face if he saw that wretched man again in the mirror. The similar paint job might just be a coincidence.
"Hold up...what am I thinking at a time like this? I just switched bodies in the middle of traffic, so the stolen money isn't with me right now." Robert's glance at the passenger seat confirmed his suspicion, as the sack in question was now missing, as it should be. "Fuck--" Robert looked behind, hoping to catch the black convertible that he was driving moments ago. Unfortunately, traffic was fast on the freeway, so the sea of cars was a blur at this point.
"Damn it, now I have to find my way back there. Hope the chick doesn't realize she is carrying stolen money."
Trying to establish eye contact with the oncoming traffic, Robert was just able to glance at an old lady in a Toyota. Luckily, she was driving slow enough for the switch to take place. Of course, Robert wasn't going to stay long in his new meatsuit. The old lady had sores all over, terrible vision, and her car was old and decrepit to match its owner. He was able to make eye contact with a van driver in the adjacent lane, swapping to a much favorable circumstance. The van driver was a middle-aged Hispanic man with a noticeable mustache and beard. But more importantly, the van's higher vantage gave Robert a chance to search for the businesswoman's car.
As the traffic started to slow due to congestion, Robert said frantically, "I hope that lady didn't get off the freeway. But I remembered that I was in the furthest lane back then, so I don't think she would've gotten off so easily, especially with this traffic." While he did say that, he knew that the bigger concern as a fatal crash, as switching would leave the original host **** for a few moments, which is particularly dangerous on a freeway. At this point, the businesswoman being in an accident would be the last thing he wanted, mainly because the stolen money would then be recovered by the authorities.
With the stop-and-go traffic, Robert was able to switch between drivers more efficiently. Of course, switching was the only way to advance at this point. His tactic would mainly involve driving close to his target and honking to get their attention. Switching from host to host wasn't easy, as Robert had to learn to accommodate on the fly. Once, he switched into a tired mother with toddlers crying in the back seat. Another time, he switched into a smoker, which elicited several coughs from the cigarette smoke upon arrival. During his chain of swapping, he thought he saw police cruisers rush past him, confirming his fear that some incident happened ahead. With bated breath, he continued his journey as he searched for the woman with the stolen sack in her car.
Did Robert find the woman?
