"So, Lady Rhea has elected to apprehend Tomas." Byleth said as he returned to the classroom from his meeting with the archbishop with Monica. "He's been away from Garreg Mach for days now. An investigation of his behavior and personal effects laid bare his hostility to the church. The knights have been instructed to await his return and take him in—as quietly as possible, of course."
"We want him alive so we might discover the whereabouts of his associates." Hubert said with his more ominous tone.
Monica let out a sigh of relief. "I'm just glad they actually believed me." Byleth gave a reassuring pat on her shoulder, making Monica blush. Or the blush could have been Sothis tweaking her nipples, it was hard to tell.
Shez tilted her head a bit."So who is this Tomas guy anyway? You say he works in the library?"
"He does. I've lost track of how many times I've spoken to the man." Linhart explained. Byleth nodded in confirmation. "He helped me pick out books in the Library on my first day of teaching."
"Um, so what did he look like again? Is he the big, burly one?" Bernadetta asked uncertainly. Byleth made a mental note, Shez and Bernadetta should be made to visit the library on occaision.
Caspar looked at her in disbelief. "Burly? Not even close! He's a frail old man with a walking stick."
"From what I understand, he has been at Garreg Mach for forty years at least. It is hard to imagine that he had been plotting evil that whole time. I wonder what led to his transformation." Ferdinand chimed in, confusing Petra. "Transformation? Would someone not be noticing if Tomas changed his appearance?"
"He meant a mental transformation, not a physical one. Tomas must've changed his mind about the church at some point." Shez corrected her.
"I am excited to have learning of this strange new expression! I must be thanking you, Shez!" Shez blushed a bit at Petra's enthusiastic gratitude.
Dorothea suddenly hissed loudly so everyone jn the room could here. "Everyone pipe down! Something's happening outside." Which naturally made pretty much everyone close in on the doors to listen. It sounded like the Knights were talkinf outside.
"Are they ready at the gates?" "Yes, sir! Every exit is covered!"
'Seems like they're about to ambush Tomas' Byleth thought to himself. Suddenly, Shez bolted out of the room without a word to anyone.
"Where are you going?!" Edelgard shouted after her, Byleth giving chase.
