Not really, at least not yet, but he's forgotten something crucial...

You size up the opposition, and your heart sinks, this guy is WAY out of your league. However you have not gotten this far by being dumb, and there is another option compared to fighting. "Start performing that strength song!" You hiss and get ready to make your move. She has the lute out and the second you feel the buff take hold you grab her waist and take to the air. "Just keep playing!" You cry as you flap your wings furiously, trying to simultaneously gain speed and altitude. Another crossbow bolt ricochets of the scales of your foot, you THINK it was aimed at Valerie's ass, but cant be sure, with the bonus to strength she is giving you you are sculling your wings through the air pretty fast, and the bounty hunter/ex-boyfriend is falling away behind, and peculiarly not saying a word, just shooting at you again with that crossbow, and fortunately this time only clipping the sole of Val's boot, you must be getting close to maximum vertical range for that crossbow.

About ten minutes later you realize that even with the strength buff if you don't land you are going to FALL out of the sky and you look for someplace to come down.

"There, that lake looks like it will make a relatively soft landing, hang on!" You say, and begin flapping your wings furiously again to slow your decent, when suddenly the song stops. "AAAGH!" You say as your controlled landing becomes a precipitous plummet.

* SPLASH! *

You plunge deep into the lake and then strike for the surface, glad that as a poison dragon you have a vague idea of how to swim.

"VAL! VAL!" You call out after gasping in a deep breath, a lily pad over your eyes.

"I'm right here!" She calls out, less than five feet from you.

You pull the lily pad off. "Dammit Val, what the hell? Why did you stop before we were safely down?" You snarl.

"I had to put the lute away, it will be ruined if it gets wet!" She shouts back.

"Oh." You say, suddenly embarrassed about snapping at her. "I'm sorry," You begin, before she cuts you off.

"Lets just get to shore!" She says, and you both strike out for the beach about 10 yards away.

As you lie on the yellowish patch of sand on the shoreline, you look over at Val, who is not looking at you, and think: ~So, we've had our first fight. I wonder when it will be over...~ And then another thought crosses your mind. ~Where the hell ARE we?~
