Chapter 27 by tailteller
Can all wounds really heal?
Not all of them
Sally sat in her car, in her mother's driveway. How could she go in there? Her mother would know...she would definitely know. She needed someone she could vent to. Someone to ask how to handle things.
Who in their right mind would just sit and listen to a woman talk about fucking her big brother? No one. She pressed her forehead into the steering wheel. She sent a text to her mother, telling her she'd be staying with a friend to unwind for the night.
Pulling out of the driveway, she drove. She didn't really know where she'd go, but she knew eventually she'd have to deal with this. A quick text to her childhood friend, Fran, and she had a place to stay. When she arrived, Fran knew something was wrong at a glance. She pulled Sally inside.
"C'mon. Tell me who he is. Who's the dead man who hurt my girl.", Fran demanded while leading her to the sofa.
Sally broke down again. When her crying slowed enough to speak, she managed to say what she needed to without giving away the 'who'. "I...slept with a guy while I was drunk."
Fran clenched her jaw. "Did he take advantage of you?"
Sally shook her head. "No...no we were all drunk."
"All?"
"There was...another girl there. We kinda got caught up in it."
"Well...did you at least have fun?"
Sally shuddered at the memories. She couldn't outright lie, though. "Yeah...a lot but..."
"But?"
"But I'd never have done it if I weren't drunk."
"Well, I assume so or you wouldn't be...y'know."
Sally nodded, wiping away her tears with a harsh sniff. "Yeah but...but I didn't like him that way."
"Oh...shit."
Sally hung her head. "I don't know what to think...I can't look either of them in the eye anymore...but when I first woke up I..."
"Couldn't stop thinking about it?", Fran asked flatly. Sally nodded, so she continued. "Look, babe. That sounds like somewhere in there, you didn't mind it. Not until after your inhibitions came flooding back, anyway. Maybe you like one of them that way, after all?"
The idea made Sally feel like puking. "No way..."
Fran leaned forward, rubbing her back. "Hey, maybe what you need right now is a total distraction. Something to let all this process in the background, yeah?"
"I would if I could... It makes me sick, and I don't think I can stop thinking about it, and that just makes me more sick."
Fran reached under the table and held up her bong. "Then maybe what you need is to be able to just ramble all night."
Sally's shoulders sank. She didn't do well with weed...it always made her say too much. Way too much. Fran held it out. "C'mon. I'll do you the favor of getting so greened out I think I'm flying if I lay down. Won't remember a word you say."
Sally chuckled, grabbing the neck of the bong. "Like that's a favor to me. Just...if you do remember...try not to be too disturbed with me?"
Fran kissed her cheek. "Never gonna happen."
