Chapter 22
by
Cantalope
Do you wait?
Nope.
Your experiences lately had made you paranoid, it would be a sin to pass up these meatballs. Hmm... balls. You tune out the Rose even as a rush of regret follows the thought, an urgent cry cut off mid-call. What was the world coming to? You ladle yourself a generous helping, expecting the girl to stop you at some point but she only beams over the counter as you sheepishly eye the heaping pile of meatballs you've taken. Even in your starved condition you were pretty sure you couldn't eat this many. Not that you weren't going to try.
Janine returns several minutes later with some bread and porridge only to find you practically licking your bowl as you finish off the meatballs. Her eyes dart to the cook, who smiles broadly, "Your friend was hungry. Shame on you for not feeding her." You feel slightly ill for having eaten so much so quickly but these meatballs were absolutely delicious! You grimace apologetically at the food Janine is holding, "Sorry... they just smelled so good." Janine doesn't seem too put out. In fact, she looks rather uneasy, glancing between the still-smiling cook and you.
"...C'mon Sabine, we should go outside before it gets too dark." You rise with a groan and thank your server profusely as Janine shepherds you our the door.
"What's wrong?" Janine bites her lip, (Goddess, she's pretty. You feel what amounts to a divine eye roll followed by grudging agreement.) "Probably nothing... probably. I just don't really trust the meat anymore." You stop abruptly, regarding her with alarm. She waves her hand, some of the tension slipping away from her face, "Forget it. I've just noticed it tends to... encourage impure thoughts." You sag a little in relief, scoffing, "Oh, Janine you scared me! I thought I'd been poisoned. You shouldn't buy into those old wives tales."She looks away, her face coloring, and you are once more reminded of just how attractive you find the young acolyte. Her skin was just so smooth and her hair looked like voluminous silk. You actually raise your hand to touch it before you catch yours-(Ahem)-before your goddess reminds you to focus.
Much like your home, the Sea Haven Abbey harbored a garden within its walls. Smaller, and less lush to be sure, but you marveled at the thin canopy of strange thin-leaved trees. Janine motioned you to a bench tucked away between the tree trunks, far enough from any window or door to be difficult to eavesdrop on. You approved. The tall blonde sat primly, smoothing her dress and taking a deep breath, "It all started about a year and a half ago..."
There was a terrible storm. There was something almost otherworldly about it, like it was driven by some higher power, not unlike the one you say carried you here. It was so fierce... we could hear the waves crashing from the abbey windows, some of our shutters were ripped off their hinges, and we had to brace the outer doors. The gatekeeper barely heard the knock at the door but opened it to find a girl, no older than you or I, half drowned and beaten to within an inch of her life by the elements. We took her in, gave her shelter even as the storm raged on for another two days.
I myself was charged with tending to her needs while the nurse slept. She was so frightened. She had an accent I could barely make sense of but she was adamant I not leave her side, convinced someone or something would kill her if I left. She calmed down when the storm finally faded and in miraculously little time she was up and about, quite chipper and pleased to explore the abbey. Her name was Selena and she was fascinated by the Burning Rose, always asking questions, getting into debates with the other sisters.
Once it was determined she was yet pure, the natural progression was that she become a sister. She was overjoyed, we had a bright new initiate, all seemed well. But she was... adventurous. She had many friends in the abbey and-Well, rumors began to spread. I myself was one of her closest friends, as you might imagine considering my part in her recovery, but Selena... wanted more. I was alone with her, just over in those flowers actually and... She has a way of drawing you in with her voice, the curves of her body, the heat in her eyes...
You'd been nodding off a bit in the middle of Janine's story, curious but completely exhausted from your ordeals. Or maybe it was the solid mass of food in your belly that made it hard to keep your eyes focussed. It had come on so suddenly you seriously ponder if Janine was right and something was wrong with the food... then she'd started describing her relationship with Selena and you'd suddenly had no trouble paying attention. She gave you an embarrassed glance, "Sorry. My point is-"
"Don't be sorry." You interrupt, your voice coming out a lot huskier than you'd intended. Janine flushes, lowering her eyes. "Please. Go on." Something in your voice is... off. It sounds deeper, more melodic. A familiar reverberation that both soothes and excites you. It seems to have the same effect on Janine, who swallows and begins again with a faint tremor, "I-I just... I just wanted to explain how hypnotic she could-" You'd somehow gotten closer without actually moving and your hand grazes hers. She looks up, breathing shallowly, face still flushed. "I know. Keep going." Your voice is quiet but there is power in it. Goosebumps dance over what little skin Janine is showing and her breath catches, though that may have been because your hand settled on her mid-thigh.
"S-she... was so beautiful... and so willing to show it. How could I resist? I'm only an acolyte, I'm not trained to stand up to such... forthright seduction!" The last words come out louder than the rest, riding a gasp as your hand slides to her inner thigh and continues upward. Janine sways, eyes unfocussed, but continues to babble her of her desire. "I... I've teased others before. Played off the... curiosity the girls feel but... but I never touched..."
"Did you feel naughty?" Janine starts at your interruption, "W-what?" Your fingers have reached their destination, only the thin fabric of the dress keeping you from the lovely girl's nethers. You use your other hand to begin sliding it up her legs, "Did you feel like you needed to be punished?" Her eyes flutter and almost roll up, "....y...yes."
That was all you needed. You were done with foreplay.
