Chapter 12 by Spars2023 Spars2023

Did she know that her husband was already dead?

Nope.

She folded when faced with a threat to her, already dead, husband and gave you the commands the mage had given her and her husband, along with as much information as she had on the mage herself. Though, as she was extremely powerful and planning to leave on the morrow, you just filed that information away for future use and got on with the business of convincing the Baroness not to obey the Marquis, or his wife, to follow you silently and not to engage her defensive programming. With that done and ideas about some bits of reprogramming in your head, you cut the Marquis’ widow’s throat and dressed the Baroness in some clean clothing (despite enjoying the view of the exquisite blonde’s nakedness, you really didn’t want to attract any more attention then you have to). After a moment’s hesitation, you paused long enough to program in a failsafe, so you could take control of the beautiful Baroness, if you ever wanted to.

Sneaking out was easy, for all that she might have been a noblewoman, the Baroness was fairly fit, strong and, as one of the Bound, extremely obedient. You made your way to the Baron’s house, where you were rapidly ushered into his presence. When his wife didn’t react as he’d expected, he leapt to the worst, and correct, conclusion.

His fury was great, but the light in his eyes when you offered to reprogram his wife was terrible and enthusiastic, as fantasies of turning the tables on his previously domineering wife occurred to him and he had you walk him through the commands and programming her to obey him. When you requested your payment, he walked you down to his treasury, where you were ambushed. Sheer luck, combined with nasty bladework let you get out of the ambush and very fast running got you out of the manor, but neither got you any of the coins you’d been promised, or any additional…release. Being betrayed wasn’t a real surprise, though after you’d done all that work and resisted the urge to bugger his wife, he honestly could have been a bit more grateful. Though, at the point when he decided to keep his wife as a ****, he could hardly have folks wandering around talking about it.

The city guards were on the alert for you and you only escaped the city because your horse was a hell of a lot faster than the horses the city guards were equipped with. The rest of your trip was, comparatively, smooth. A couple of stops along the way provided additional release, but no coin.

Onward south...
