You look back up at her. “Sorry”, you say. “I can’t help right now. I’m kinda in the middle of something I need to do.” With that, you walk away from the Sorority house.

You spend the next half hour wandering around, trying to find someone willing to do this challenge with you. After several rejections (not to mention a few slaps in the face) you decide to head back to Chris at the sports field and see if it’s possible to get a new challenge. You see Chris and Claire there talking to each other.

“Hey, um…Chris.” You say.

“Hey John, what’s up. You finish that task I gave you yet?” You almost want to punch him in that smug face of his.

“Yea, about that…I was wondering…could I have a different challenge instead?”

“What’s the matter?” he asks, “too much for you to handle?”

Finally Claire breaks in. “Stop being such a prick. You know the rules. Any pledge can substitute a challenge one time with no penalty. After that, it costs them points.” Really, you think to yourself. Funny how he didn’t mention that one to you when you first started.

“OK, OK”, he replies, turning towards you. “Are you sure you want to use your substitution now?”

“I’m sure”, you answer. He reaches into his stack, pulls out another envelope, and hands it to you. You quickly tear it open and read the note inside…
