"No, everyone here tonight will be fine with them," Jennifer says unthinkingly.

"Every-... Jen, just how many people are here?" you demand.

Given the general reaction to your powers that you went through in your hometown, from people who'd known you most of your life, you're understandably gun shy about revealing them to others. The only reason you were open to the possibility of telling Jennifer's roomate, Allyson Smith, was due to the fact that you were going to be living with them and you didn't want to have to hide your powers until you moved out on your own.

"Don't be like that, James!" Jennifer pleads somewhat scoldingly. "There's only going to be five of us here tonight- including the two of us. Then there is my roomate, Allie, Annabeth- the girl from my psych class and Kathy, who's always liked you."

Kathryn Wells, "Kathy" for short, was Jennifer's cousin- though not yours.

As kids, the three of you were always rather close and most had automatically assumed that you were Kathy's cousin as well, since you were Jen's brother. After a few dozen explanations on how this wasn't the case, the three of you gave up on explaining it. Still, even though most had assumed you and Kathy were cousins, the two of you were well aware that you weren't and over one summer, kept finding reasons to be alone with one another- teaching each other how to kiss (i.e. make out).

That came to an abrupt end when Jennifer caught the two of you one night. While she didn't freak out or tell any of your mothers, she did admit to being "weirded out" by her brother and cousin being together, regardless of your own relation (or lack thereof) to each other. Even still, the three of you remained the best of friends, like your own mothers had (despite the fact that less than a year of Jennifer being born, your mother had engaged in a fling and had gotten pregnant by her best friend's ex).

"Alright, I get Allyson and even Kathy, but why that Annabeth chick?" you inquire.

"She's really big on the whole 'Super Scene' and was gushing about you a couple weeks ago when you first 'Awakened' as she called it," Jennifer admitted. "Without thinking, I told her you were my brother and she's been pestering me about meeting you ever since, especially when Allie let it slip that you were coming to stay with us during our study group."

"Huh... Wow... I hope I live up to her expectations then," you say uncomfortably while blushing. You are quick to change the subject. "So what's Kathy doing around?"

"She's here to see you," Jennifer informed him. "Mom let it slip to Aunt Liz that you were staying with me for a bit."

"Does she know about...?" You inquire leadingly.

"I don't see how she couldn't, since all of our moms tell each other everything," Jennifer pointed out. "Even if she doesn't, she'd be fine with it. You are literally her favorite person in the world."

You smile nervously as butterfliess flit about your stomach. "Let's hope so."

"Ready to face the firing squad?" Jennifer asked.

"If I say 'no', can we get back into the car and circle the block a couple times?" You asked semi-seriously.

"No," Jennifer answers firmly. "Let's go."

It doesn't take you long to get to her apartment. Her parking space was one of the closest to the building and she and Allyson only lived on the second of three floors. Jennifer enters first, announcing your presence for those assembled. "We're here!"
