"No, I'm..I'm really tired, I just want to go to bed," you say, even though you don't. You just don't want to do anything for this stranger.

"Oh, that's fine, I wouldn't want to put you out of your way," Miles says, sickeningly sweet. "I'll just get it in the morning; everyone in this town seems to nice to steal."

He says some other sentimental garbage about how nice Strawford is, but you ignore him. You don't trust him in the slightest.

After a moment, you excuse yourself, and go to your room. You read by candlelight before going to bed. It's early for you, but you don't feel like staying up to hear your mother get charmed by this weirdo.

You manage to fall asleep despite their gossip, but after a little bit you're awoken by your door creaking open slowly. You're facing away from it, but the sound of a male voice whispering keeps you from rolling over. You hear your mom's voice as well.

"I'm telling you, Ada," you hear Miles say. "I didn't believe it at first, but this boy is the thief the bartender mentioned! He's stolen over 500 gold! We need to tie him up for the town guard!" What the hell is he talking about? You've never stolen a pencil from a classroom, let alone gold!

"But Miles--" your mother protests, before you interrupt her by jumping out of bed.

"I am not a thief!" you say. "I've never even heard of someone stealing from the bar; everyone is too scared of Rodney!"

"He's lying, Ada," Miles snaps. You see his carrying rope. "I know he is. Now, John sit down and let me tie you up."
