Does Liandra change her mind?
No
That night was a bit of an event, with several musicians making presentations in the different castle rooms. It was an evening of entertainment for the court, there were more than a hundred nobles and court members there, they came to mingle, have fun, and make their power plays. But Liandra remained aloof to the underlying politics, all that she could think of was how handsome Ludo were that night, with his green and golden jacket and suave smile. Liandra had accepted a light blue dress that clinged to her form well, but that kept most of her skin covered.
"You can chose, Liandra" Ludo had the manners of a hawk. Liandra eyes looked around the party, and found a woman of particular beauty and confidence. "Her? that is countess Elysa, dear Liandra. She is completely faithful to her husband, several rakes tried to woe her favor and they all failed. But if she is your choice..."
"I don't care for an herculean task, Master Ludo. Let me choose again. Her eyes this time found a slim Lady about the same age as the princess, a blond noble daughter that seemed ill at ease in the crowd. "Gwen is the youngest daughter of Baron Khyston. Her marriage to a Nocternian Noble was announced just a couple of days ago." Ludo began to look around the crowd, but Liandra remained with her eyes fixed on Gwen. She smiled, but no one spoke to her, she was just waiting for one of the recitals to start. Liandra saw herself reflected in the noblewoman, and pleaded.
"No... she should be the one. She will soon be shifted to another country, a hallow place where the gods hesitate to enter. Let her part with at least one good memory, Master Ludo" Liandra placed a kiss on his cheek, and the Bard bowed as a knight receiving a quest from his liege.
Ludo approached her with a red flower, and just in time, for in that room the musicians were about to start to play. Liandra sat a row behind them, and could hear the Bard´s smooth praise to the musicians, all whispered to Gwen. Liandra could but imagine how intimate it felt to have a man ´s breath on her neck like that, she could see the tension on Gwen shoulders.
"but truly, if you are serious to continue studying music... all that it takes is bravery, and discipline." Gwen giggled at the idea her charming companion could be described as either, and Ludo agreed "Well, I am not playing tonight, am I? But really, there is no such thing as talent. Talent is for people who believe we have **** but to be whoever we were meant to be, it takes bravery to become more, to become whoever we want to be" Liandra was just as shaken by those words as Gwen.
Ludo didn't need to bring the subject of her forthcoming marriage, Gwen mentioned herself her indenture to a foreign noble. She brooked no hope of happiness, but Ludo chastised her, telling her a sad face was anathema to her natural grace and beauty. "Beware the curse of the gods" Ludo said, which made Gwen smile.
Ludo glanced back and met Liandra´s eyes, their signal for Liandra to go to the Bard´s room, and wait for the next stage of the spectacle there. Liandra stands and makes her way there discreetly, but not enough to avoid being noticed by Meyar, the court jester. While he wasn't going to stop her, he could make a jest in front of her father about the princess sneaking to someone´s room.
Should Liandra reconsider? does she even notice the jester?
