No plans, but a goal in mind

You are still amazed by the news, when you're stepping out of the dorm. Melody has a crush on you. All these years you had no idea, you always thought all the teasing and flirting is her way to talk to you. Have you ever noticed a change in her behaviour?

You stop in front of your building. Your eyes wander up to your window and see that Melody has shut the blinds.

The memories from earlier today pop back into your mind. In that moment you had been drawn to Melody, the only thing that had stopped you was fear. We are both afraid of what might happen, or not happen.

After several seconds you march into the building having a clear goal in mind. As you get to your floor you silently walk towards the door and listen carefully. It's completely silent in your room. You try to be as quiet as possible. The room is dark, just a few beams of sunlight get in through the window. After a moment your eyes adjust and you see Melody sleeping on her bed. You toss your shoes aside and walk over to her. Suddenly she rolls on her side and you freeze, afraid that you've woken her. But she made no further movements. When you stand over her, you watch her. Rolling back on her back she let out a sigh. Sweat is glistening on her forehead and you can see her eyes move behind her eyelids. With your hand you gently feel her forehead. She is burning up.

There is no question in your mind, that you will stay with her and take care of her. After you get a cold, wet washcloth from the bathroom and put it on her forehead, you pull a chair to her bed's side and sit down.

There you sit in the dark. The room is heating up from the direct sunlight and you begin to sweat. With the lights out you can't make out the time and you've no idea how long you were sitting next to
Melody, when you hear her speak.

„Jack?“ she says, barely more than a whisper. You rush out of your dreamlike state and rush to her side.
