Chapter 163 by brevdravis brevdravis

The Girl by the Fire

No Monologues, please.

The door swung open, to reveal the nearly empty Cabin. Imogene sat by the fire, and she looked up nervously as I entered. I observed my little sister calmly, noting her crossed ankles and slightly nervous expression. She hadn't changed, I noticed, and still wore the skimpy club dress. She had at least taken off the jacket, which was draped over a nearby chair. Kaila was a mere step behind me, and shut the door as I crossed the room.

"So, uhm... " I began, "Do you need a hug?"

"Yes... absolutely," Imogene blurted out, lunging to her feet and crossing to me with two quick steps. Her arms came around me in a tight hug. It should have been fine, but for some reason, the contact of her felt somehow, different. Her breath was slower, deeper, and the contact was fuller than the usual, Brent I'm having a bad day hug.

"Thanks..." Imogene breathed out, and I felt a soft pat on my back that I recognized as belonging to my wife's hand.

"Okay now... let's have this out. This has needed to happen for a long time," Kaila reminded me of what was going on. What we needed to do. We needed to talk.

"Ok... I'm taking the couch then," I pulled free of Imogene's clutching arms and settled myself into the cushion of the closed hide a bed. Imogene demurely returned to her seat on the hearth. Kaila snuggled in next to me, and for a moment we simply sat there. Imogene took a deep breath, and I realized what was coming.

"Hold up, Sis. Let me ask this right off. Have I heard this one before?" I spoke quickly, interrupting her train of thought.

"I... well, I mean..." Imogene stumbled over the words, her train of thought suddenly seeming to come to a screeching halt and derailment.

"Better question, will you stop trying to be a bitch if I let you stay for a while?" Kaila spoke up brightly. "I mean, yeah, I'll have to figure out something with my sister on this, but it's not like we haven't shared a room before."

Imogene didn't respond, her expression a mass of confusion. I for my part just accepted it. Charlotte was right, nothing wrong with just telling Imogene what I want. But what... what did I really want from her? I knew that I wanted her out of our father's house. However, there was another hunger in me, and I knew it for what it was. I wanted my sister. The constant suggestions from Charlotte kept running through my head, and now that my wife had given me... permission. I shouldn't want this, I knew. I shouldn't keep staring at the exposed skin. Shouldn't be thinking about how good I already knew she feels in my arms.

I shouldn't be getting hard again thinking about it.

"So... uhm... Kaila... I was wondering." Imogene began. "Yes. I... want to stay with you and Brent."

And there it is.
