No Boys Allowed!

You walked to your friend Jack's house, enjoying these first days of summer break. Seeing the car was out and the windows dark, you decided you may as well try the backyard before giving up and going home. It was a large yard, like the house. Jack's parents were loaded and you have to admit that at first you'd become friends largely because Jack had the latest game console and was happy to share. That was history though, and the two of you had been best of friends for years and years.

There wasn't anybody by the pool, or the old swing-set and play area. Dan headed to the corner of the acre-property that still had trees, next to a firepit and wood-pile. There was the two of your secret fort, the treehouse Jack's dad had built for you back in the second grade.

No sign of any people, but something was clearly wrong. The sign you'd put up to ward off Jack's sister Kate was defaced. Now it said 'NO BOYS ALLOWED' the GIRLS crossed off. Rolling your eyes at Kate's antics, you climbed inside.
