Kira avoided making eye contact with Jane. “I’ve thought about that a long time Jane, but I really don’t think it’s right for me.”

Jane kept a gentle watch on Kira, trying to assess where she was emotionally. “Do you have any other ideas? You could strip maybe!”

Kira shook her head at that, she wouldn’t enjoy it for the same reason. “I do have one idea, though I don’t think you’re going to like it.”

Jane began shaking her head “Please don’t say what I’m thinking your about to.”

“I could try to reconnect with Andrew.”

Jane groaned.

Kira continued, rushing her words in an attempt to prevent a rebuke “The more I think about it the more I didn’t give him a chance to explain, for us to talk it through. Maybe we could still make it work.”

“No!” Jane replied fiercely “ Just no no no! No, baby! He does not respect you! He does not deserve you and I don’t want you to live under his thumb for the rest of your life!”

“I’m out of other options Jane. I won’t be a burden to you here. I can’t do that. I’m going to go talk to him, face to face and see if I can figure it out.”

Jane gave her a long look. “If you do that, you can’t stay here.” She said quietly.

“What?!” Kira asked incredulous.

“I won’t stand by and let you hurt yourself again Kira. I love you too much for that. We’ll figure something else out.”

Kira began to feel tears in her eyes. She stood up abruptly. “I think I need to go for a walk.”

Jane started to get up and said “I’ll come with you.”

Kira put a hand on her shoulder and replied “I need some time to think Jane, I’m going to think about all my options and try to come up with some new ones, but I need some time alone.”

Jane watched her eyes, also getting a little wet and her expression was one of concern.

Kira made her way out the door.
