I knew that Bulbasaur could do it, and I wanted him to win this one without resorting to a potion. I would be able to complete the rest of this forest without having to do use him, or at least I hoped so.

"Come on, you can do it Bulbasaur!" I called out, doing my very best to give him a confidence boost. Thankfully, it seemed to be doing the trick, and Bulbasaur's speed increased as he dodged and dipped underneath the string attacks. Before too long, Caterpie was down for the count. The rest of the bug researcher's team were easily dispatched, and I jumped for joy with the victory.

Once the battle was finished, the researcher let out a huff and pulled out his wallet. It was legally required to pay the other trainer if you didn't want to use their body, and the scientist was abiding by that rule now.

"Here. I can't believe some girl beat me." he sulked, dropping the few dollars onto the ground. Walking away, I watched the scientist disappear into the brush as I picked up his money.
