Chapter 16 by Mannelig

Is my next appointment impatient?

No, but there is a different solution.

Erin hurries inside and bends over you. "Rahid is in the waiting room, and we heard Abby crying inside. He wants to make a proposal regarding her." she whispers confidentially.

I hold up my notes and respond in the loud. "Whatever that proposal is, I don't think it can by a good idea in the slightest." My pencil falls to the paper to underline and circle one word that is very high up in my notes there: ASYLUM.

Erin gets a green marker pen and writes a number on the margins. A number with five digits. "Rahid is not without means, he says, and he is looking for a partner."

"That desperately? He was with Charlie this morning, and he is not..." Erin just squeezes my shoulder in answer. "Yes." she whispers. I glance at the half-open door, and see Rahid standing in my anteroom, meekly leaning at Erin's desk and strumming his cock.

I sigh, but my brain works on overtime, seeing that figure. Those are the turnover figures of our office for three months. I glance at Rahid again. I smell foul play, there. "Double, at least. And professional supervision."

"How are you going to manage that?" Erin wonders.

"Abby?" I raise my voice. The broken woman splayed on my floor looks up. "Abby, I changed my mind. Would you like to accompany me back to my home tonight? Instead of the asylum?"

"Um." Abby wavers, until she has processed my words. "Oh yes, Doc! You've been so kind already..."

Erin grins. "Good idea, Doc." Then she lowers her voice. "I've spoken with social services, too. No insurance records, this would have been just the warrantied fees."

So, minimum payment limited to 1-hour consultations, for a case that has taken me three hours already! Social services would pay me about the cost of our stuffings today. Meanwhile Rahid for some reason offers a payment of several hundred times as much. I am suspicious of him now, he better not be involved in something illegal. He has been friendly and reasonable the whole time, though.

"I still will not cancel my afternoon appointments, Erin. Can you babysit them both for three more hours?"

Now, Rahid stands in the doorway. "Doc, I could take Abby shopping."

"Take Erin with you." I nod. "We will discuss this all together at... four. Send in my one-o'clock, please!"

What's next?
