Chapter 25 by Fencer
Take Ravok's advice?
No, THINK damn it.
Fear sat like a cold lead weight in Calvo?s stomach as he entered the metallic cargo pod that now served as his quarters. He was not inexperienced with a gun, he had been in fire fights before, many times. But he was no quick-draw artist. That VIM junkie bastard certainly was, judging by the lurid tales Ravok had told him as he drove Calvo back to town.
The ex-prisoner fought down the fear with grim determination. Fuck it. He would face whatever came tomorrow, and if he died, at least he would die a free man. But he didn?t intend to die. He had not lived this long by simply surrendering to circumstance. Keep thinking. Always keep thinking.
Dragon rose from the sleeping mat in the corner, her tiny, slender body naked and tempting in the lamplight. She moved to Calvo, her slim hips swaying invitingly, and placed a hand on his arm. She looked up at him, her dark brown eyes narrowing slightly.
?What is it??
Two heads were better than one. Calvo explained the situation, and Dragon probed for every detail he could remember, about Sligo, about the rules of the gunfight, everything. As the night lengthened toward day, they discussed plan after futile plan. Running was not an option, Calvo had spotted men armed with rifles on some of the rooftops: evidently some had tried to skip out of ?festival? days before, and depriving the town of its fun was evidently not to be permitted. The gun he would be lent would have only one slug, so shooting his way out was going to be somewhat difficult. And if anyone tried to draw before the clock struck noon, the riflemen were under orders to gun them down.
Dragon grew silent, her brows lowering thoughtfully. Se rose, moving to the door, her lovely tight little ass swaying , and opened it, looking out in to the darkness for a long time, before turning back to Calvo.
?I have an idea. I don?t think you?ll like it much, but it has a chance?
She was right. Calvo didn?t like it. It depended upon so many things that were completely beyond his control. But it was the best they were able to come up with, and morning was coming?..
The Plan...?
