Well, if someone Jacob knew had come up to her and told her before this that she'd gone to a carnival attraction and met her future self, she would either think the person was lying or delusional. So instead, she decided to just stick with the plausible part.

Namely, telling the pretty girl that Jacob liked that she was a girl too and wanted help with her transitioning.

Did the restaurant suddenly get a lot hotter? Why was Jacob sweating so much?

Taking a deep breath to try and calm herself, Jacob noticed that Kristy was starting to get worried that answering that simple question was taking so long. "I...kind of had a personal revelation today? And it was a big one. Like, really big, earth-shattering big, and I needed to talk to someone about it."

Tilting her head a little at that, Kristy looked contemplative. "Huh." She chewed on it for a few seconds before fixing a level gaze on Jacob. "Seems like I'm the person you chose, then. Kinda surprised, since we're not super close, but I've got open ears." She spoke nonchalantly, but there was something about her words that comforted Jacob. She was willing to listen.

Jacob could do this. Time stretched out as she tried to think of the perfect combination of words that would make this easier, before just blurting out, "I'm a girl!" Realizing immediately that she had yelled and that sounded weird with no context, Jacob started blushing furiously and said, her voice quieter, "I, I guess I'm transgender. Like, a trans woman. Trans girl? Ugh, I sound so dumb..."
