Chapter 2
by Razor7826
Should I take a more active role in this woman's future?
No, I have plenty of business affairs to take care of.
I knew that as much as I wanted to toy with her, there was just too much work to be done concerning the company. Lounging back in my desk chair, I glanced at different folders and notes strewn across my desk. There were several pressing issues that concerend the innoculous Smith Paper Company.
First on the plate was a pretty local reporter that was looking into possible business irregularities concerning my company. My sources revaled thatthe 'irregularities' were mainly tax and licensing problems, but if she dug deeper than that, it could be a lot of trouble. My files revealed that she was a thirty-one year old widower with no chidlren and no surviving family. While her age could be an issue, she certainly was pretty enough to be if use to my company.
Second on the plate was a case of potential embezzlement. One of my accountants made a note that the budgets were off by a few thousand dollars. By the looks of it, I was likely being betrayed by one of my most trusted subordinates. Whoever it was, they were going to pay.
Third on the plate was difficult request from one of my most consistent clients. He had a list of three specific women that he wanted us to grab for him. I normally disliked doing specific targets, but he would be paying enough ot make it worhwhile.
The last issue of note was an up-and-coming business rival. As far as my sources could tell, he was a 43-year old single father that recently switched from a profession in law to something our illicit field. There was still plenty to find out.
What should I look into?
