Chapter 7 by Roman Holiday Roman Holiday

Do we encounter anything on the way?

No, Ciel rushes you along

As much as I would have liked to stop and smell the many roses offered along our walk to the auditorium, Ciel made sure to keep us on track. Whenever I tried to stop and look at something or even watch some notable characters from the show talk to one another she turned her head and gave me a glare. The signal that I needed to pick the pace back up.

As much as I complained, it wasn't too bad, you definitely get a sense of scale that was hard to really notice during the first Volume of the show. Even at the breakneck pace Ciel was pushing for I still got to enjoy the architecture.

After a couple more minutes of speed walking we finally reached the building where the meeting was being held. It was a beautiful and massive arena like structure. It was made out of the similar white stone commonly used in Beacon but was trimmed with black engraved edges. The widows on the side were a bright blue color, although the intensity of the color made it kind of hard to look inside.

When we got into the building proper it was a large open space, with a circular raised platform where I assumed speakers would stand. The roof was completely gone, allowing us to feel the cool breeze from the outside. But the floor was dark wood, making me wonder what they did when it rained.

The most surprising thing was...it was mostly empty. A couple of students where sitting on the ground twiddling their thumbs, but overall it was a completely dead. I turned to Ciel, who had was looking at her scroll, and she seemed completely unbothered by this. I though she was super worried about being late or something.

"What the heck Ciel? Where is everyone! I thought you said we were gonna be late if we didn't rush to get here." I crossed my arms.

"I'm always at least 30 minutes early to any event I attend. Don't get upset at me, you were the one who insisted on walking together." She didn't even bother to look at me as she responded.

Well shit, what am I supposed to do here for 30 minutes? I could try and talk to Ciel some more but she seems really engrossed in whatever it is she's looking at on her scroll.

I took a look around to see what other students decided it was a good idea to come 30 minutes early to a meeting.

No one really of interests was here yet. I bet most of the other students were having fun exploring the campus. I let out a sigh and watched the large wooden door that acted as an entrance. I guess I'll just be stuck watching this door for the next half-hour.

That was, until someone unexpected pushed the heavy doors open. A tall woman with bright red hair, wearing a a brown corset, a red mini-skirt with shorts underneath, black arm length gloves, and tall boots with bits of golden armor. Pyrrha Nikos.

It looked like she was alone, kind of surprising considering she is such a famous star in the world of RWBY. But she is originally from Mistral. Beacon is a whole continent away. It would be a good idea to talk to her now, after all by talking to her I would have formally met every member of my future team.

Pyrrha walks to the left wall near the entrance of the arena. Looking rather casual and a bit bored. With a confident stride I begin my walk over to the Invincible Girl.

She quickly notices me walking over, quickly putting on a polite smile. When I get close enough I begin the conversation.

"Hey there! You decided to show up to this thing early as well huh?" I smile wide, trying to be friendly.

She nods "Yes, well I thought it might be a good idea to arrive early. I wasn't aware if there would be much space if I showed up any later." I nod along as she speaks. I remember from the show that Pyrrha likes it when people don't know her past. She wants to be treated like a normal girl. So that's what I'm gonna do.

"My name is John by the way. Nice to meet you!" I outstretch my hand, offering it to her. She quickly accepts and shakes my hand, her smile becoming a bit more genuine.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Pyrrha."

"If I can be honest with you Pyrrha, I'm a little nervous. I've barely fought anything before, not to mention the formation of teams." She tilts her head to the side, seemly a little intrigued.

"Oh I'm sure it'll be fine. Although, I don't see a weapon on you. Do you use your fists to fight?" Yup, I was worried about this. Would people believe I got accepted into Beacon if I didn't even have a weapon? I just had to bullshit my way through this...or maybe it would be better to tell her the truth. Someone like Pyrrha values honesty, so lying out the gate wouldn't be a good idea.

"It's a little embarrassing to admit, but I don't have a weapon. I figured I would find something when I got here at Beacon." Her eyebrows shoot up in surprise.

"Really?" She replies. "So you're the type of Huntsman who improvises their fights?" I nod my head. "Something like that."

"I've always admired people who can come up with strategies and tactics on the fly." She giggles a bit. "I'm sure whatever team you end up on you'll make a wonderful addition." I smile. Compared to the cold Ciel and Rude Weiss Pyrrha is a breath of fresh air. She's really kind of sweet, not to mention humble about her skills and reputation.

Just as I was about to ask another question I noticed that students began to pour into the arena. Professor Ozpin was standing on the elevated platform, looking over a couple sheets of paper.

The orientation speech was about to begin.

"Oh, looks like things are about to start. Catch you later Pyrrha!" I wave as I begin to walk back to Ciel before the crowd becomes to large to push through.

"Bye John, I hope too see you in the future!" She calls out.

I find my way back to Ciel, who barely acknowledges me as I take my place beside her. I look up to see that Glynda Goodwitch has joined Ozpin on stage. A small microphone now present as well.

Ozpin walks forward, adjusting the microphone slightly, and begins to speak.

Does anything happen during the speech?
