Nikki accidentally uncovers a huge scandal

"Ummm," Nikki tried to come up with a question on the fly, "do you know how much of last year's University budget went to textbooks?"

Just then, one of the trustees froze as his face fell. Dan McGraw, a third cousin of Dr. Phil and a distant heir to a minor part of the McGraw-Hill textbook fortune, had rigged up contracts with the University to purchase solely from McGraw-Hill, despite the obvious conflict of interest. Dan got paler as the University president responded "good question, let me pull that up for you," and pulled up her laptop.

Nikki, for her part, was just bouncing her weight between each foot as she waited for the question to be answered.
