“Y-you doing alright?” Arthur asks, snapping you out of it. Together, you walk inside the library building. You angle your hips so that he doesn’t notice the half-erection that you’ve grown.
“Yeah,” you say, and then pause. Now, both of you stand dwarfed by towering bookshelves that reach towards stained-glass windows. Papers are flipped. Hushed reverence hangs in the air.
“Actually,” you say, taking a deep breath. “Does ‘SSC’ mean anything to you?” Upon mention of the acronym, Arthur nearly drops his textbooks. He clears his throat and composes himself.
“I-I uh,” he says, biting his bottom lip and lowering his voice to a whisper. “Sh-should we be talking about this?” Arthur looks around the library to make sure nobody else can hear you.
“Sorry,” you say, noticing how uncomfortable he’s become. “I just learned about it today.” Arthur waves you toward a library table, and together you sit. He leans forward and whispers to you.
“I m-mean,” he says, folding his hands together to stop them from fidgeting. “I’ve seen videos. Just a f-few,” Arthur says, gulping. “But I don’t think I’ll c-compete. I don’t think I… I don’t know.”
