After class, Ms. Delilah asks that you and a couple other students stay behind. She promises that none of you are “in trouble”. You and the two other students, a boy and a girl, approach her.

“Peter, I sympathize,” Ms. Delilah says, twitching her head between each of you. “You’ve missed two months of instruction. Much foundational material. You must be like a paper in the wind!”

You pinch your lips and shrug. “I’ll catch up,” you say. Ms. Delilah chuckles and waves her hand. “Preposterous. I’m confident you can, but why do so alone?” She nods at the other students.

“I’d like to assign you a tutor,” she stops herself, raising a hand. “Not a tutor. An ally. These are two of my brightest students, Ruth and Arthur. They can catch you up on the previous material.”

You remember Nate talking about Ruth. She’s the goody-goody Christian girl. The one that Jacob, the guy on the fencing team, has a huge crush on. She seems meek and rather quiet.

The other student, Arthur, was the previous substitute on the Falcon Fencing team. He looks equally quiet, although with a bit more of a nervous energy. He just smiles and nods his head.
