Chapter 6 by RatedOni RatedOni

Going back home?

Next stop, Gotham... again.

Minerva wondered what time it was as she stumbled around, her head felt as if she had been lost in the middle of a foggy road, not quite sure what was going, but now she could feel it being lifted, not by morning light, what with the windows still showing darkness and the red lights of the neighborhood.

Trying to get things in order seemed a bit impossible for her at the time, what with the woman she had spend fucking for hours knocked out in the bed. Finally dressing herself she noticed the clock on the wall seeing that it was close to two in the morning, trying to remember at what time she had been dragged in she arrived at the conclusion that they had been at it for about four hours .

Minerva wasn’t quite sure what to do in a situation like that, but she decided that leaving was probably the smartest thing to do, after all, she wasn’t sure what would happen if she spent the night in here, better to return home, well, the dimension she had been reborn in, she didn’t have a home to come back to.

Looking back at the woman sleeping on the bed, Minerva sighed knowing that she had stepped into a landmine of epic proportions, because as she walked down the stairs and left the building, things began to click on her head. The woman she had spend hours fucking into unconsciousness was none other than Selina Kyle, future burglar and famous thief, aka Catwoman herself.

As she walked around the neighborhood trying to find a quiet place where she could jump back, Minerva began to remember about this dimension, or at least a version of this world. If she remembered correctly and if Selina was still working as a dom, then that meant that this was Batman Year One, or a world similar to it, which meant that Bruce Wayne was not yet Batman, no wonder the city felt this filthy, the corruption and crime was rotting it from inside out.

As she walked amongst the other streetwalkers, alcoholics and people still partying around, Minerva realized something, she hadn’t changed from the clothes Alfred had given her back at the other dimension, meaning she was only wearing a gray hoodie and pants, that on itself must be bizarre, so why was everyone simply… ignoring her? Looking around it was as if she didn’t exist. No, it wasn’t that she didn’t exist, people were moving aside as she walked so they wouldn't crash, it was as if she was just another person, just not important? Probably a filter of sorts, interesting.

Whatever the case, Minerva turned a corner and allowed a moment of respite, not too much, she still needed to concentrate, she needed to find her way back and with one nod to herself she moved, or the world moved, she wasn’t quite sure yet, what she knew is that one moment she was on an alleyway on Gotham, the next she was inside a house, probably a dining room due to the long table and the decoration on the walls.

Suddenly, Minerva felt so tired, probably everything that had happened was finally crashing down on her, now that she thought about it, from the moment she had awoken inside that capsule at Lexcorp to now, she haven’t really rested, the small nap at Selina’s apartment helped a bit, nothing like sleeping with a beautiful woman, but the mind had limits and after everything that had happened today, she wanted to just pass out, probably on top of one of the chairs, thankfully, she was saved of doing something like that when a man appeared at her side helping her up after she had almost stumbled after one step.

Focusing her eyes she recognized the stoic and gentlemanly face of one Alfred Pennyworth looking at her with a worrying look.

“I’m okay, I’m just… so tired,” she then let out a huge yawn, the butler didn’t react to her clear state, “I must look like a complete disaster.”

“You should see how Master Bruce come back after some of his more ‘spirited’ adventures of his, besides, after your explanation of how you have been basically reborn in a new body with abilities you quite not understand, it is impressive that you are still in one piece,” hearing the man talk that way, it made Minerva feel… welcome, how weird, this man was truly unique.

“Thank you Alfred, so where’s Batman then? I… didn’t want to get ahead of myself or anything, but, well, I had to tell him and Superman some things that I found out, is just… I don’t know how to explain it.”

“Is alright, Master Bruce and Master Grayson are out on patrol, I’m sure they will come back soon if nothing out of the ordinary comes up,” at those words it made Minerva blink, so Robin was already living with Batman at this point, she needed to see what other differences there were with this dimension “as for you madam, I already prepared a guest room, seeing your state at the moment I think it would be a good idea for you to take some rest,” what did he said?

“Wait? Are you serious? I can… I can stay? But… I don’t understand, you didn’t even know if I would come back here, so… why?” As she asked their reason for letting her stay, Alfred simply smiled a bit as he guided her out of the dinner hall and up the central staircase of the Wayne Manor.

“Why indeed, well, answering the first of your questions, Master Bruce and Master Clark were not sure if you would come back, but they did have a ‘feeling’ that you will find your way back, call it a hunch I suppose. As for the other matter, the previous master of the house, well, he was a man that would take the clothes off his back to give it to those that needed them more than him, so it makes this old man happy to see the young master follow his father’s example,” great, she felt like crying due to those words and their actions “you are alone, lost on a world that you don’t know, and yes, you may have powers beyond our imagination, but that does not mean you should be alone as you discover yourself, so rest now my dear, you may have your whole life ahead of you, but that is until tomorrow, so good night,” and with that, the man that had seen after one of the greatest heroes of the world walked off, making her feel welcomed since… who knows how long.

Opening the door to the guest room, the tired young woman decided to follow Alfred’s suggestion, all but throwing herself into the bed, falling asleep almost instantly, feeling safe and secure.

Guess she was home at last.

A New Morning
