New Rules for the World

I took down a notebook from the shelf marked "New Rules for the World". I dragged it over to the chair and began to read. I noted that this one was in first person from the son's perspective, rather than my father's own perspective.

The rule book, the story began, was sitting there in the middle of the street. Someone seemed to leave it behind, so I picked it up and looked inside. I thought there might be information to find the person. Instead there was just a note:

The world has rules, stated and unstated. Everyone makes them, even if they don't make them clear or out loud. However, with this notebook you can tap into that section of reality. You may rewrite the world. Everything you can imagine can become true.

You can write that something was always true, and the world will change to make that so. If you want the changes to happen and be known about, you can say now true.

It is recommended to write in pencil, so you can change your mind later.

I thought for a moment and finally decided what I wanted to write.
