Nervous

The next day, Spencer picked up his phone to check his inbox. Ever since the rebirth of his sex life, Spencer had more than a few flings with some of the mothers who had been eyeing him over the last two years. Although he did have a few messages of interest, he took the most interest in a message from Amber:

'Hey Spence could we meet for lunch today?'

'of course. Oxford Diner?'

'thats what I had in mind. c u @ 12?'

'sounds good to me'

Spencer puts his phone away before taking a shower, wondering what's on Amber's mind.

When Spencer saw Amber sitting at the Oxford Diner, he tried his best to figure out what was behind her blank stare. As he sat down, Amber flashed a smile and said "Hey Spence."

"Hey. How's it going?"

"Good. So what's up with you?"

After a sigh, Amber said "It's about Jazzy."

"What's going on?"

"I'm just... nervous. I think she's putting a lot into you getting her pregnant."

Spencer nodded. "Well, I mean I guess you're right."

"I just don't know how she's going to take it if things don't work out. I mean I'm not saying they won't, it's just..."

"Well, we'll cross that bridge if we get there. I mean can understand you wanting a backup plan, but at the end of the day, the best thing we can do is support Jazzy, okay?"

"I guess so."

"Anything else on your mind?"

"I dunno. Guess I'm a bit nervous about parenthood. I didn't exactly have the greatest example growing up..."

"Yeah but from what I understand, you're the polar opposite from them. Anyway, you and Jazzy have me, and I think I've done pretty well with Amy."

Amber let out a slight giggle. "Fair enough."

"Hey, nothing can truly prepare you for parenthood. You just have to dive off the deep end."

Amber gave an accepting nod. "Guess that's true. Thanks Spence."

"Anytime. Don't be afraid to ask for help if it starts to become too much."

"Sure."

After lunch, the two went their separate ways. In his SUV, Spencer checked his phone to see what other texts he had received.
