Chapter 17 by elmerstories elmerstories

The minotaur, Djarrus stands before you. What will you or Nathraena do next?

Nathraena realizes the minotaur gave away his "true name"

Nathraena smirks, amused. "So that's how it is, huh? You just gave away your true name, didn't you?"

The minotaur named Djarrus smirks back. "You're the first to ask. Most try to strategize how to defeat me or carelessly attacks without even asking for a beast's name."

You widen your eyes, shocked. Honestly, you forgot about the concepts of true names. Everyone is given a true name when they are born, but it is not known to them. In order to know one's true name, a person can either request it while dreaming, which is harder than most would think, and the last is to nearly die to meet **** to request his or her true name.

"So, how did you find out about your true name?" the drow asks, growing curious.

The minotaur grows cold. "I died, naturally by one of the mistresses, but instead of letting me pass on, she bound me and kept my body in a vegetative state, listening closely to **** revealing my true name. After that, she pulled me back, tricking **** and reviving my body. I am bound to her for eternity."

You are shocked. If all of these seven mistresses that rest in the mountain can trick ****, then they are not to be messed with. Your heart beats fast the more you think about it, but you also grow more hopeful about your wife, Elayna. These mistresses...one of them must've been the one to pull your wife away. The way the minotaur describes sounds awfully like the state of your wife, even though you did not know what this vegatative state means.

The drow frowns, sympathetic to the minotaur. "That is tragic, indeed; however, I know that even if you provide your true name, we probably cannot kill you, right? Our word is insignificant to the power of the mistresses' word, correct?"

The minotaur snorts. "You are correct, elf. I cannot kill myself even if you ordered it since her word is more powerful. I cannot stand by either and let you pass since my mistress forbade it. She did not prohibit me from giving out my true name, though. I ask you to carefully consider what to do with my name."

"What if I ask you to seek out your mistress and kill her?" the drow asks, raising her eyebrow.

The minotaur shakes his large head. "I cannot do that either. If you wish to pass, I hope you can use my name to your advantage."

Nathraena turns to you and puts a nail to her lips, biting it in frustration.

"While he has given us his name, it still won't be easy. If we try to pass him in any way, he will still attack us. Telling him to stop won't do either since we still have to move forward. How can we use his true name to our advantage?" she questions.

You curl your lips in thought as well.

How to proceed with this bound beast?
