Shrugging, Mai leaned back, either feigning disinterest or simply losing interest in the television. Not to say she wasn't watching it anymore...she just wasn't so captivated by it anymore. "Whatever," Mai replied. "I worked along side Azula. I've seen 'scary' up close." I supposed Azula could be considered scarier then any movie.

Still, I had a part to play. "Azula? Are you serious?" I asked, sounding shocked. I figured that I would have met Azula while working at Mai's estate. Probably got abused by her too. I never cared for that character Honestly, watching her go crazy had been enjoyable. Psychotic bitch.

Regarding me with a sideways glance, Mai rolled her eyes. "Have you known me to tell jokes?" Mai asked. "It's not something I'm proud of. You know how she was. It didn't get any better with age. She dangled the right bait in front of me and I took it." She sounded disgusted with herself. I could see why.

"What bait?" I asked, curious. Her cheeks turned pink. "...Azula said that since you were from the Earth Kingdom, Ba Sin Sing was the best place to look for you. ...so I helped her conquer it from the inside out."

"...I don't know what to say," I said. "...you took over a city just to find me?" Mai was silent for a bit before speaking in a softer tone. "...'just' to find you?" Uh oh. That didn't sound like a happy question. ...it was hard to tell with her. "I would have taken over the entire Earth Kingdom to find you," Mai whispered, turning her eyes toward the floor.

Did I fuck up? I decided to test the waters and put an arm around her. To my relief, she didn't pull away, instead leaning against me. "I had no idea I left that much of an impression on you. I thought I was being silly for thinking about you so much," I lied. When did I get this good at acting? Maybe I wasn't good at it and she's just programmed to believe it when I saw shit like that.

"John?" I looked down at Mai who had her head on my shoulder. "Yeah, Mai?" "...I'm hungry...but I don't feel like getting up." I sighed and got ready to rise but she grabbed my arm and pulled me back down.

"You're making it hard to feed you if you won't get up and won't let me go get you anything," I remarked. "I know." ...hmm...
