My daughter had a question...

"Daddy, how do babies get in into a mommy’s belly?" my precious and precocious six-year-old daughter asked while we were walking home from our visit to Hazuka and my twin's home. I'd been expecting this for some time. She was too young to remember her sister's birth last year, much less her younger cousin who was now aged three. Of course, her older cousin was almost like a twin brother to her, even having been born on the same day as her. That sneaky boy often talked with her and got her to ask questions for him.

"Well, Ruri..." I started, "When a daddy loves the mommy very much he plants one in her belly where it grows. Like how a seed grows in the ground and becomes a flower, that’s how babies grow in a mommy until it's ready to come out as a baby."

"That's why Auntie is getting fat?" she cheered wide-eyed as she connected the dots. Hazuka was only a few months along, but was already showing proudly again. With two boys so far she is hoping to have a girl this time, while humorously enough my wife’s pair are both girls.

"Right," I smiled and added, "Just don't say it like that in front of her. Women never want to hear that they are getting fat."

"Oh," she soaked in the information like a dry sponge and thought for a long time as we walked home. Before we arrived she came up with another question, but this one I'd hoped she would have never asked. "So, is it my brother or my cousin if Mommy’s next baby was planted by Uncle Kenjun?"

"What?" I asked playing dumb.

"Well, it was Uncle Kenjun who was at our house all month while you were visiting Auntie, and he said you’d explain it later and not to say anything until you got back. But I think Uncle put a baby in Mommy's belly sometime in the last few weeks, so now I'm confused," she honestly explained as only a cute little six-year-old could. It seemed that she already knew the more gritty details of sex and had just needed the explanation of its purpose which I had just given her. The fact that neither Hazuka nor Kouki could tell me and my twin apart had led us to think that no one else could either. I never even suspected that innocent little Ruri could see right through our switching deception.

We knew it was wrong to secretly keep swapping wives and families back and forth, but like me my twin, I still loved both of them and this let us both keep that real and alive. Even though we'd agreed to have our separate lives, we were still the same person in every respect. And to be honest both of our wives seemed to like the spice it brought to the bedroom even if they didn't realize the cause of it. Together we lived as twin brothers, each of us taking one of the girls as our wife, and for about the first year we honored that agreement. I was Kenjin and my twin was Kenjun, until we switched places now every few months, and until now no one had known any different.

I considered lying to her for only a moment, but knew that she deserved better. She'd already spotted our first lie, and now because of how decent a job we had done teaching her that lying was wrong, I knew I couldn't violate her trust again. This was a vital moment in her development, so instead, I came up with a simple solution. "Your mommy is the key to figuring that out. Any baby born to your mommy is your brother or sister. Any baby born to Auntie is your cousin." That seemed to make sense to her and she just filled that away like it was no big deal, but I needed to make sure the secret she'd uncovered didn’t escape any further. "Ruri, can you do me a favor?"

"Sure, Daddy!" she answered happily without a care in the world.

"Anytime your Uncle Kenjun is here with Mommy while I'm visiting Auntie, I want you to call him Daddy Kenjin, and me Uncle Kenjun instead?" I asked, hoping for the best.

"Why?" she asked innocently.

"Well, Uncle is not like a normal brother to me. We were once one person, reborn as two from magic, so really in every way he actually is me when he's here, and I am him when I am there with Auntie." That didn't really make sense, but it was the best I could come up with. Luckily it seemed to be good enough for my wonderful little girl.

"Okay, Daddy," she chirped just as we arrived home. Kouki smiled at us as she greeted us at the door.

"How's Hazuka and Kenjun?" she said kissing me happily as we came inside.

"Doing quite well apparently," I answered with a smile without elaborating, then went and washed up for the wonderful dinner she had already prepared.

We were halfway through eating and had exhausted all our other conversation topics when my wife decided to finally reveal subtly, "So… I'm late." She didn't elaborate as she continued to spoon-feed our toddler daughter squirming around in her high chair. She clearly hoped that would be a big enough hint to me yet still get past our very bright six-year-old.

"Oh," was all I said to acknowledge her revelation of a confirmed third pregnancy.

"I'm gonna have a brother?" Ruri yelled with excitement as she again easily deduced the truth.

"Or another sister," Kouki sighed, but still smiled happily.

"Nope!" Ruri declared confidently. "And Auntie is gonna have a girl this time!"

Before Kouki could ask Ruri why she thought that I spoke up, "Whichever it is, it's still wonderful news!" Then I leaned in and kissed my beautiful wife happily. I was only slightly guilty with the memory of Hazuka's lusty kisses last night as we made love. Tenderly and gentle so that we wouldn't harm my newest baby growing large in her womb. I didn't really know if the baby in either of their bellies was mine or my mystical twin's, but I'd decided it didn't matter in the slightest. In my eyes, they were all my children, and I knew the other me felt the same way.
