My Power is…

Kevin stood outside the cells in awe of what he could do. Kevin was able to use Zoe’s power after their confrontation with her which means that his power isn’t making people fall in love with him. It means that he must’ve gotten the power from someone else. Kevin didn’t want to stand around thinking about it for long since he didn’t know if they had someone on the lookout around here. Kevin had two directions to travel, left or right. He chose right as he tried to move as quietly as possible. Most of the cells he passed by were empty, but he did find a couple of people trapped within them as went further down the hall. Two of them were asleep, and the last one looked at him without any hope in her eyes as he passed by their cell. Unfortunately, he wasn’t sure he could save them. Not to mention, he didn’t want to give them false hope.

Kevin didn’t know whether he should be happy that he hadn’t run into anyone as he made his way into another section of the building. There was a locked door that required a key card, but Kevin just phased through the door onto the other side. As soon as he went through the door, he could hear the sound of people talking as they neared his location. Kevin saw a room in front of him as he quickly made his way inside. He overheard the sound of two people talking about Stardust.

“I still haven’t found the necessary ingredients necessary to make the ****’s effects last longer than a couple of weeks.”

“Shouldn’t you be more worried about finding how to make it permanent rather than increasing the duration of the ****?”

“You act like it’s easy to permanently genetically modify someone in the exact way you want without negative consequences. If you want to be technical, then it's possible to do so but look at all the negative consequences from patient 12.”

“Patient 12 powers are permanent? I thought he was a failure.”

“He is a failure. His powers may be permanent, but he reduces his lifespan every time he uses them. There’s no way the boss will want a power that kills them if they use it. That is the reason why he’s a failure. I’m excited though because I’ve heard we have someone who has managed to permanently keep his powers without the **** and seemingly without consequences. I can’t wait to experiment on them.”

Kevin shivered as they continued to talk.

“No way.”

“Should we head inside for some supplies for today?”

“Might as well.”

Kevin heard the door click as the lock was opened. Kevin used his power to phase back into the hallway as they entered the room. Kevin figured that this is the place they used to experiment on the people they’ve captured and create Stardust itself. Kevin knew that it was a matter of time before they came back out, so he had to decide to go back the way he came or go further into the base. Kevin knew he needed more information on this place, so he decided to keep exploring. Kevin passed through various rooms that he either had no idea what it was for or wished that he hadn’t seen. Eventually, he found a room filled with documents about everything that they’ve been working on. The newest document was one for himself.

Kevin Brown (Subject 25)

There wasn’t much in his file, but it made sense considering that they didn’t know much about him. He didn’t want to believe it, but Rick was on their side the whole time. He did want to know more about experimental batch 76. Luckily, the file for experimental batch 76 was attached to his file. It was an experiment to turn Stardust into a gas that people could inhale instead of pumping into their system. However, it was shelved because any powers gained from the ****’s effects were reduced significantly and made it less likely for the person to gain powers compared to the original method. It did have the side effect of making people lose their inhibitions. Kevin figured that the **** was probably used to make people have a better time at her party instead of trying to give anybody their powers. He wondered why he gained powers because of it, but he wasn’t willing to become a genie pig to find out.

He looked at the next document, and surprisingly it was Zoe’s file.

Zoe Miller (Subject 17)

Power: Phasing

Kevin was happy that he was gaining information on what he wanted to know, but it didn’t help the worry that he’d be another experiment or pawn to use as they see fit. He read a couple of other files, but they didn’t have any valuable information on them as he found the twin’s file.

Nora Walker (Subject 20)

Kevin couldn’t believe that she was manipulated like this. At least, Rick was telling the truth when he said that he wouldn’t be able to save just the twins. He couldn’t undo the brainwashing they’ve undergone without Subject 14’s help. However, he had a feeling that he knew who Subject 14 was as he looked at Cora’s file which was mostly the same as Nora’s except that she had super speed instead of super strength. Kevin could see why Krystal was so confident outside his cell. He would be too if he had two bodyguards with super strength and super speed respectively. One thing that was attached to their files was a note saying that if one person in the family gained powers then there’s a much greater chance that their immediate family would be able to obtain powers. Kevin was going to look further into it when he saw Subject 14’s file. He couldn’t resist as he picked up the file and read its contents.

Krystal Bell (Subject 14)

Kevin figured it was Krystal was Subject 14, and now he had an idea of what they were going to do with him. Krystal would either use her powers to manipulate his memories and trick him into serving her or just use him as an experiment to figure out why he still has his powers. It was then that the alarm went off and they figured out that he escaped from his cell. Kevin dropped all the files as he rushed out of the room. He ran towards the supply room hoping to pick something up. He knew that he was going to need it if he wanted to get out of here. As Kevin rushed to the room, he continued to phase through all the obstacles in his way. There were somebody guards that tried to gas him or shoot him with tranquilizing darts, but he phased through all of them as he made it to the room. He phased inside and quickly looked for the Stardust ****. Kevin found syringes for both Stardust and Stardust X as he searched the room. He knew that the **** gave people their powers, but what if he already had powers. Emily theorized that it could potentially boost my powers, but it was only a theory. Kevin had to take the risk to escape, so he chose to inject himself with the regular Stardust instead of Stardust X.

Kevin felt the **** flow through his body, and he felt powerful. He felt like he could do anything as he stuffed the remaining **** in his pocket and phased through the door. Unlike the basic bodyguards from before, the twins appeared and were trying to capture him. Kevin wasn’t worried as Nora threw a punch in my direction. He phased through the punch before grabbing Nora. Kevin felt even more empowered as he kicked Nora through the metal door leading to the supply room. Kevin turned toward Cora to see that she had already used her super speed to get right beside him and pierce him with a syringe. The syringe bent as it touched Kevin’s skin. Cora looked at the broken syringe in shock as Kevin reached toward her. She quickly dodged his grab as Nora came out of the room and started to **** him from behind. Kevin grabbed Nora’s hands and easily removed them from his neck. Kevin figured that the **** did boost his abilities and he was now stronger and more durable than Nora herself.

Kevin elbowed Nora, and she bent over in pain as Cora ran away from the fight. When he was thinking about why she would run, she turned around and headed straight for him. He had to move out of the way, but Nora grabbed him from behind. Kevin shook her off, but Cora was right in front of him, and he couldn’t dodge. Kevin knew that at the speed she was going and the power he had, he probably wouldn’t die but might be knocked out. He couldn’t allow them to capture him as she phased through him, missing her attack completely, and fell onto the floor. Kevin couldn’t believe it. He still had Zoe’s powers even after he copied Nora’s power. Kevin grabbed Cora before she could react and slammed her onto the ground. She struggled, but Kevin ignored her as he reached into her pocket and injected her with the ****, she was trying to use on him. She went **** as Nora tried to attack Kevin once again. Kevin gave her a nice uppercut as she was also knocked ****. Kevin thought about saving the prisoners, but he had no idea who they were or if they wouldn’t use their powers to commit crimes like the smoke guy. Kevin took some more of the knockout **** from Cora as he searched her body. Kevin decided to find a way out of here by using his super-speed and phasing powers.

He searched the facility until he came across Krystal in one of the rooms. She was shocked but had no chance to react as he used his super-speed to inject her with the knockout ****. He kissed Krystal while she was **** and felt his power activate as it did on every other girl he used it on. He needed Krystal on his side and couldn’t risk her using her powers on him. He grabbed her and used his powers to make his escape from the facility. Once he escaped, he couldn’t believe that the facility that he was in was right beneath his nose, right below the school.
