Chapter 5 by Ben Rosewood Ben Rosewood

Where does Molly take you?

Mugged

You follow Molly to the elevator where she says, "I hope you brought money 'cause I forgot to."

"Yeah that's fine."

"Thanks."

The elevator soon arrives at the bottom floor. As you step out, you ask "So, is this place within walking distance?"

Molly nods. "Just down the street."

"Perfect."

She proceeds to lead you to a cafe called Mugged. Upon entering, the girl at the counter snaps her head towards Molly.

"Large Cappuccino?" The waitress says.

"To start. We might look at the menu too." Molly says.

The waitress turns to you. "What about you, Sir?"

"Uh, I'm fine for now.

"No problem."

The two of you take a seat and check out the menu. Soon enough, the waitress comes over with a bucket of coffee for Molly and leaves with both of your orders. As she walks off, you say "So, I'm guessing your roommates aren't as stuck up as Valerie either?"

Molly finishes a sip of her coffee. "They wouldn't be my roommates if they were."

"Fair point. So what are they like?"

Her foot grazes mine. "Trying to figure out which one of us is for you?"

"Ah..."

Molly giggles at your confused face. "Oh come on. It's natural."

"Right."

"Well, I'm sure you'll meet 'em soon enough."

"That's the plan. So what are they up to?"

"Well, Lauren has college, Indigo's either teaching yoga or hugging trees and Rosie's well... Rosie."

"What do you mean?"

Molly lets out a sigh. "The last few years have been rough on her."

"Sorry to hear it."

"Just keep in mind she's pretty reclusive. Nice girl, but... it can take a while for her to come out of her shell."

You nod. "I'll keep it in mind. Anything else I should know?"

"No. The other two are pretty normal. I mean Lauren is a bit shy too, but that's about it."

"Cool."

That's when the waitress comes back with meals in hand. The two of you eat and once finished, Molly says "How you feel about dessert?"

"Better when I'm not paying for it."

"Heh. I probably don't need it either."

"What do you mean?"

For once, Molly's eyes drift away from you, her face filling with doubt. "I've been putting on weight..."

"Well, I think you look great."

"Heh. Do you now?"

"Absolutely. Nothing wrong with some curves."

Upon hearing your words, a beaming smile returns to Molly's face. "Well, in that case, I'm gonna have a brownie."

"Guess I better too."

After making the additional order, you turn back to Molly. She keeps her eyes glued to you as you walk back, her finger twirling around in her hair. Part of you starts to wonder how much Molly likes you. Then again, upon considering your recent loneliness, you begin to have your doubts. Is it love, lust, or desperation that's swimming around your head. Maybe it's a mix of all three.

When you sit back down, you ask "So, what do you do for fun?"

"**** metal, **** mysteries, cooking-"

"And yet you insisted we go out for lunch?" You interject.

"Eh, I like the coffee here.”

“Maybe next time then?”

“Maybe.”

The waitress then comes around with the two brownies. Within seconds, Molly devours her treat, before pulling out her phone. "Oh shit... Uh, I gotta go."

"Oh. You okay?"

Molly stands up. "Yeah, but I really gotta go."

"Well, it was fun whilst it lasted."

"Totally. See you around Eric.”
