Mrs Oversight summons you to her office

What’s that noise? A blaring siren that sounds familiar. No, just when you think it’s familiar, it stops. Good. Sleep more. Sleep deep. No wait. Familiar. It was the alarm. Shit. Your alarm.

Opening your eyes is almost impossible. Fumbling for your clock is sluggish. Yes, it was your alarm. And it went off half an hour ago. Shit, you’ve overslept.

Every response is sluggish. Even getting out of bed is an event. Shower, getting dressed, breakfast, all take longer than they should, all happen in a fug. Must be the side effects of an eventful weekend.

What it means is that when you get into school, you’re too late for assembly. You grab a coffee from the empty staff room and head to your office. On your office door is a note. You missed assembly again. See me in my office after assembly. Mrs Oversight.

Ah. Not good. If there’s one thing to make this morning worse is a meeting with Mrs Oversight to discuss assembly. You really could do without that. Maybe it’s fate getting you back for having a great weekend.

You try to concentrate on preparing for today’s lessons but can’t do it. You leave all doors open and it’s through these that you hear Abigail arrive. Assembly must be over. You dread to go and see Mrs Oversight, but the sooner you see her, the better. So, you head to her office.
