What's next?
Mrs. Geoff was at the door, ready for you
The walk felt longer than usual, your thoughts heavy, knowing that you would have to deal with this situation eventually. But for now, all you could focus on was making it through the night.
When you arrived at Mrs. Geoff’s house, you were greeted by her warm, familiar face. Her brow furrowed with concern as she saw your soaked clothes and bedraggled state.
"Oh dear, you're absolutely drenched, Sarah briefed me what happened. Don't worry my child, you'll be safe here." she exclaimed, rushing to fetch a towel. "Let me get the bathtub ready for a soak so you don't catch a cold." She handed you the towel, her hands gentle and firm, the soft cotton feeling like a small comfort after the chaos of the evening.
You stood in the living room, feeling slightly awkward but grateful, as she hurried off to prepare the bath. The towel hung around your shoulders, soaking up some of the water dripping from your hair and clothes. The house felt warm compared to the chilly drizzle outside, but your skin still tingled with the cold that had seeped into your bones.
