Moving Day

It was time for Carrie and John to move to Austin. It was a sad day for Carrie, really. She loved the capital city, but she'd made a lot of memories here. Meeting John for the first time at Heartbreaker's. Dating him. Him displacing his son from her holes entirely. Living here with him. Giving up schooling for him. Becoming the perfect bride for him here. She sniffled.

"We're not selling the house, Barbie, and we'll be back a few times. It's not a forever job, you know," John said, trying to comfort his wife. She smiled.

"I know Daddy, it just gets me a little emotional. Can we ... you know ... one last time, for old time's sake?" John smiled. They'd done it "one last time" for old time's sake last night and the night before too.

"Sure Barbie."

They retreated to the bedroom, boxes still half packed. It wouldn't be the last "one last time" that day either.
