Chapter 35 by computer_njord

Do they buy it?

Mostly

The human bard examined the three women closely. Myria, Dew, and Cecilia all continued to try to look as pathetic as possible.

"I think I trust them, everyone," she said. "They are truthful when they say they are no friends of the toads."

"You trust them, and I trust you," said the noblewoman. "Well met, I am Halae. This is Elli, Tobin, Zora, and that gruff one is Kord."

Dew stepped forward and extended a hand to her fellow elf. "I am Dew," she said. "This is Myria Quickhands and Cecilia of the order of Vermael."

"Vermael!" the ranger Zora exclaimed. "A goddess of purity, no? This place must have tested you greatly."

"Indeed it has," Cecilia said. "But one finds faith in... unexpected places."

"Bah," said Kord. "Let us leave them and be on our way."

"Indeed," said Tobin, the nervous wizard. "We have our prize, we just need to escape!"

"What prize is that?" Myria asked.

"None of your business!" Kord spat.

"A sample of the venom these toad creatures use," Halae explained. "For the mage's guild to study."

Myra and Dew shared a brief moment of eye contact.

"We'll not leave you," said Zora, looking at Kord with disdain. "We're already headed back to the surface. If escape is your goal, our goals align."

"We must confer," Dew said, and ushered her two companions off to one side.

What do they discuss?
