Chapter 26

The Next Morning
Morning Time
The next morning is the same as the last only feeling more repetitive. I wake up with the rest of the crew for an early meal we are given meat yet again and more citrus. Whatever this scurvy is the pirates must really fear it if they eat like this every meal. I go to check in on Alexandra and she's doing much better I was able to talk to her for a little bit and ask her how she's feeling. It was incredibly relieving to hear her say she's doing much better. Since we escaped those Bandits and have been on this ship she's been my only friend.
Afterwards I head over to the Captains quarters for him to assign me a task. Today the doors were open and he beckons me, I close the doors behind me.
"Ah. Kaitlin just the person I was looking for. We've seem to run into a bit of an issue that affects us."
"What kind of issue?" I ask.
"Well the men on board insist that I offer you to them they're angry because I don't let them have you."
"Oh... I didn't know... Thank you"
"It's no issue at all really, or well it wasn't until now. The men are planning a mutiny and if that happens they'll kill us both and take this ship. Now for obvious we can't have that happening, so I've made a meeting with them and I need you to get them to join. We need them to be loyal to us because if the crew does try anything then we'll be prepared."
"Okay I mean mercenaries will work for money right? So can we use some gold we have onboard?"
"No using the gold will just get the crew to kill us on the spot besides most we could get them to be loyal and join us if you were to become a member."
Understanding our predicament I immediately head off the ship and to the assigned meeting place to hopefully get some allies on our side.
The meeting place was at a nearby inn upon arrival the place has quite a few people but no one appearing to be a mercenary, I grab a seat by the bar counter and order a drink. As the innkeeper serves me a drink, I ask "Excuse me. I've been wondering if there is always this much people?"
The innkeeper looks at me attentively, and nods "Aye. This inn's pretty popular. But normally it's mostly peasant. But some conflict ended to the east so we got a lot of wanderer nowadays."
"Oh. You wouldn't happen to know any of those wanderers?" I wonder aloud.
"Well I know a few. I'll be happy to tell you about them if you want." He adds with a smile. Of course he would. He's already fallen to my charms. Like a lot of men. I smile back and keep the conversation. When I am done, I know enough to get by. And I also know the innkeeper would love nothing more than to see me. In his room. Without any clothes.
I push that thought aside and examine the inn once more.
When suddenly a group of men burst through the door sitting at the nearest table demanding to be served. By the looks of it they are soldiers from conflict. Four soldiers, all men and with good quality gear. Their leather armor looks a bit used, one of them is in a plate armor and their weapons seems in very good state even though it has clearly seen some use. From what the innkeeper tells me, they are veteran soldiers that helped win many conflicts. Their leader is a dashing man in leather armor and with the sword.
They must be the mercenaries.
