More than expected

As Skyler walked over to his car, he noticed a couple of things. Not only was his balance off due to his damaged shoe, but he could feel a prickling sensation from the grass under his right foot for the same reason. He sighed softly while he used a mental command to unequip his shoes and socks, resulting in him dropping about an inch to the ground. Although slightly jarring, he was at least steady on his feet once again. He shook his head while walking to his car once more. 'How am I going to explain the damage to my shoe?' He thought while getting into his car.

However, there was the matter of Skyler's dad's food. If the time spent in here was actually over two hours, he would need to go back to Wendy's to buy more. If he was lucky, Gaia would restore the warmth to his father's food. Hmm, but that was rather unlikely. He looked to the bag of food on the passenger's seat. A moment later, he confirmed that it had grown cold. "Hmm, figures." He grumbled to himself before lifting his hand up to the ceiling after buckling himself into the car and said. "Exit illusion barrier." Upon doing so, the world around him seemed to stop as did the mild motion of grass outside from the wind blowing.

A high pitched male's voice came from the passenger's seat. "I hear you need to learn how to create and exit illusion barriers, Skyler. Follow me, we should get started." Skyler quickly turned with a puzzled look upon his face. He saw an odd creature opening the passenger door just before it hopped out onto the curb. This creature was roughly 2' tall and wore a black loincloth. It had a long tail with three black feathers at the tip and two leathery wings, roughly the same height of its body. It had dark grey skin, creepy white eyes and two short snow white horns coming from its forehead. The appearance of this creature reminded him of an imp. He decided to use Observe on this creature to confirm his suspicions.

"Well, don't just gawk at me. Out of the car. I don't have all day. Hmm, well. I do, but that doesn't mean we should dawdle. I have other things I want to do than to teach you how to perform basic dimensional folding." Skyler shook his head while unbuckling his seat belt and got out of the car. Jekri smiled a wide sharp toothed grin. Those teeth were an amazing shade of pearly white, giving Skyler even more of the creeps. Jekri laughed before hopping several times toward the field of grass. "This'll be a good spot."

As Skyler walked around his car, Jekri started to smooth down the grass with his right hand before sitting down and looked at him. "Have a seat." Skyler nodded before sitting down roughly a foot in front of him. Jekri reached to his side and pulled up a few blades of grass before lightly blowing them into the air, but unlike what would have been expected. They floated up into the air to form a cube. "All right, Gaia says you aren't too stupid. So I'm going to skip some of the obvious things here. I need you to use your magic to form a cube, just like I have here. Do you know how to bend mana to your will yet?"

Skyler sighed and shook his head. Jekri glared and let out a breath. "Let me guess, you haven't even had your powers a day have you?" Skyler nodded. "Right. Sadly, I haven't had a chance to experiment with my new powers yet." Jekri chuckled. "Mm, just my luck. I get to teach a true newbie. Ah well, at least your honest about your shortcomings." He snapped his fingers and that cube fell apart, the blades of grass floated to the ground. "In that case, I will have to teach you control first. Pick up a blade of grass and focus on cutting it down the middle with your willpower. Once you have completed that I will teach you how to fold an object. After which I want you to make that cube I was showing you just moments ago." After Jekri spoke, a yellow exclamation appeared that Skyler allowed to pop up.

Accept or Decline?

Skyler had a feeling that this was somewhat of a joke to Jekri, but this just confirmed it. However, this was likely the only way to get out of here at a reasonable rate. He mentally hit, 'Accept.' while picking up a blade of grass and started to focus on it. He could feel the very core of his being tighten and stir as he pictured a small blade sliding along the vein of the blade of grass in between his thumb and pointer finger. After several seconds of focusing like this, the blade of grass split in twain.

Jekri clapped his hands twice mockingly while grinning devilishly. His score ticked up to 20. "Good, you can be taught. I'm Jekir by the way." Skyler quirked a brow, but nodded slightly. "A pleasure to meet you, Jekir." Jekir nodded twice. "Yes, um. Right, folding. I want you to take a piece of grass and fold it into a knot, twice. After which, well, I am sure you remember the next step, right?" Skyler nodded before looking for a sufficiently long piece of grass to fold before letting it lay in his hand as he focused on it.

Although Skyler was mostly focused on making those knots, he thought. 'Well, now I know why Jekri is only level twelve after 301 years of life.' Unlike before, this took several minutes to perform, but once this was complete Jekri cackled. "See? Not so hard, right? Good boy, good boy." Skyler couldn't help, but feel mocked by this imp. However, he ripped out a few pieces of grass and started to focus on making a cube out of them as Jekri had earlier. This was not as easy as it looked, but after two minutes of focusing. He finally succeeded in making a perfect cube out of the blades of grass in the air. As his quest turned itself in, Jekri bounced up and down twice. "Yes, yes. That's right!"

Skyler mentally hit, 'Accept.' as Jekri let out a giddy shriek. "Ah, good! It's time to do this with a fragment of space. Now pay attention, my quiet student. I will only do this once." He lifted up a hand into the air and gripped the air, pulling it down until reality itself seemed to bend like putty. He bent it several more times until it was in a knot. It was rather odd to see an unnatural bulge in the air. "I want you to unbend it with only your mana. Next you'll reform it into a square. After that, well, this is the hard part. I want you to snap it in two. Only then will you have learned all you need to create and exit illusion barriers."

Skyler's eyes focused on that knot and thought. 'Well, that was unexpected.' He looked back to Jekri while thinking. 'I guess he isn't quite as pathetic as I thought.' Jekri started to rock on his heels before turning around. "Time's a wasting, Skyler!" Skyler grumbled before focusing on that knot yet again. As he focused, he felt that tightness and stirring within his very core once again, but it was far easier to control and manifest what he desired. Although he couldn't directly see it. He could feel himself untying that knot before reforming it into a square.

Jekri turned back around with a playful chuckle. "Now's the hard part. Do it, do it!" Skyler lifted a brow before shaking his head and focused on doing what Jekri had said. However, as he tried and tried, it was simply too much for the amount of effort he was putting into it. By this time he felt like his very core had been worked out thoroughly. Was there some sort of trick to this? Or was this pain in his very core a sign that he was almost there? Jekri smirked. "Oo, so close. Want a hint? You'll feel rather dumb when you hear it."

Skyler glared at Jekri before shaking his head. Jekri grinned devilishly. "Don't forget that your target is reality. Not yourself." Skyler blinked hearing that and thought. 'Is Jekri trying to tell me there is no spoon?' With that in mind, he let out a soft breath and tried once more. This time, he focused on a small section of space and treated it like it were a small, but firm branch and snapped it in two. However, upon his success a small tear in reality formed, opening a rift to another dimension. Jekri grinned before flying off into it with a giggle. His score ticked up to 30. "Congratulations, Skyler! You have passed and I am free! Suck it, Gaia!" As Jekri spoke, Skyler's quest turned itself in.

Environment types currently available: Swamp, forest, desert, or rigged. (Rigged only available within trap setting.)

Monster list currently available:

Tier 1: Boars, imp, kobold, goblin, elemental, or undead.

Can be set to public or private.

Random: Randomly pieces from the other available options.

Standard: Someone will ask for your aid to retrieve a family heirloom or other thing of similar importance to them.

Escort: You will be required to escort someone to their destination, protecting them along the way. (This may have multiple escort destinations.)

Rescue: You will be required to rescue someone from a hostile environment.

Attack Waves: 2 to 5 attack waves of the selected monster will come at you with increasing difficulty. (Amounts in these waves is based on the difficulty setting.)

Hunting: You will be required to hunt down a random amount of the selected monster type.

Defense: You will need to defend a person, group, village, or town for the allotted time. (Size and duration are based on the difficulty setting.)

Clearing: You will be required to clear out an area for someone. This may require more than one spot. (Locations and amount in each location is based on the difficulty setting.)

Multiple objectives: Select up to 3 of the other choices. (Not recommended for new players)

Sexual: Randomly picks between: Standard, Hunting, and Rescue when chosen by itself. This setting increases the likelihood of sexual encounters. Enemies have their natural libidos increased, making it far easier to convince or entice them to fuck. Fucking your foe until they pass out will count towards any normal objective to defeat them. (Not for players with low libidos or have low endurance. These needs change with the difficulty setting.)

Escape: (Unlocks at level 15) You will start off in a guarded room from which you are required to escape. All of your gear and items will be placed in a different room. (Grants double experience on easy mode, triple on normal, and quadruple on hard. This option limits: Multiple objectives, options when selected)

Attempts to shatter the current illusion barrier if not normally permitted. Must be 1.5 times the strength of user in selected category.

Special note: Mana cost is only applied if there is a restriction on exiting. Checks are applied to Strength or Intellect.

Strength is checked if you try to push your way out. Intellect is checked if you are using your will to **** your way out.

Skyler smiled after reading all of that, but wondered if he would ever see Jekri again, but thought. 'I doubt I'll see him again.' He went back to his car and buckled himself in before casting Exit Illusion Barrier. Upon doing so the world around him shattered into a million pieces. There were a few questions left to answer. What should Skyler do about his shirt, shoes and socks? Should he try to repair them or simply toss them out and buy new ones? Hmm, upon exiting the illusion barrier, will his father's food still be cold or not?
