More than 5000

A week after the second white girl Wednesday Eve has another meeting with Michael and Sally from The Mandatory Diversity Committee.
“We have wonderful news today, Eve.” Michael says. “We have recorded over 5000 students participating with the event.”
“Really?” Eve says smiling. “That is amazing.”
“You’ll be even more amazed when you see the details.” Michael says.
Sally takes her papers and starts laying out the demographics.
“We have recorded that almost 1300 of the students joining this white girl Wednesday also participated in the previous one.”
“Seems like I am one of those.” Eve thinks to herself.
“On top of that 900 more black men participated as well as an increase of 2000 white girls. The largest demographic however, the white guys, only had 250 new participants. This shows the white male population is still quite resilient against diversity.”
Eve sighed. “If only we could do something to make the guys be more acceptant of other races.”
“Other than that, we are seeing a slow increase in all other demographics, except for the black girls. Almost none of them returned for a second time and only a few 30 applied for their first time.”
Eve puts her fingers to her temples and rubs them.
“This is quite troublesome. How are we doing overall?”
“The amount of white girls that have engaged in diversity have risen to 27%.” Michael says. “That is a huge increase. Even if we don’t progress any more, I think we should be happy we got at least this far.”
Eve relaxes. Michael is right, even if the mandate ends up failing, at least a lot of people have grown closer to each other. It may be a small victory, but it counts.
“I would still advise not to do another referendum now, however.” Michael continues. “We may be able to get more than 50% of the students to vote yes, but it will definitely not be 70%. Let’s not waste one of our only 2 remaining chances.”
Eve nods.

“So we’ll finish the final exams, then we have summer break, then the new year begins.” Eve states.
“If I know James well enough, he’ll use that time to run for student body president that year.” Sally says. “He’s smart enough to know that if he takes your place as student body president he can sabotage everything we have worked for.”
“Then I guess I’ll have to run again and win.” Eve says.
“And I have just the idea for that.” Michael says.
“We start by leaving some more propaganda the final day of school.” He explains. “This way students can go home with thoughts of diversity in their minds. If we’re lucky some of them can experience diversity their first time at home. When they come back for the next schoolyear we can do some more propaganda, this time with some testimony’s about interracial summer romances.”
Eve smiles and says, “Sounds like a plan.”

The final exams proceed like usual. As agreed with Michael and Sally, The Mandatory Diversity Committee puts up some new posters. On them are some new testimonies.

The first poster has a pictures or a white girl being hugged from behind by a black guy.

“Joanne,
I have always secretly been into black guys. On the 2nd white girl Wednesday I finally found a way to fulfill my fantasy. I do not regret having gone black.”

The second poster is one with a white guy holding a black girl in his arms, both of them smiling.

“Simon,
I always thought white girls were best. Then I met Cynthia on a white girls Wednesday and we have been a couple ever since. Sorry white girls, black is simply better.”

The third poster has two women on it. One of them is a white girl, the other a black girl and they are holding hands. This one interestingly has two testimonies.

“Freya,
After many years of torturing myself, White girl Wednesday finally helped me come out of the closet. After having made love to Tammy, I discovered my true self. No longer am I ashamed of being a lesbian, now I am proud of it.”

“Tammy,
I used to think white girls were stuck up bitches. But when I had Freya in my arms she opened herself to me. For the first time in my life I felt connected to a white girl. She has opened my mind to a whole new world and I love her for it.”

On every poster there is also a statistic made public by The Mandatory Diversity Committee.
"On the 2nd white girl wednesday, we counted about 27% of all white girls having experianced diversity. Good job, white girls. You are an example for all of us."

“Good.” Eve thinks when she sees these posters. “Some great messages for the students to take back home with them.”
And with that, the schoolyear ends. Time for summer break.
