“Mira. Once she is one of us the others will quickly fall.”

“Excellent idea Tawny. How do we take her?”

“You’ll tell her you have to show her something in the observation deck. Take her there and I’ll be waiting.”

You exit Rachael’s room and head to the deck. When you arrive, you stare out the window at the billions of stars. You smile. Many of those stars have planets and many of those planets have life. Soon though they will all worship Illiana.

Rachael enters the deck with Mira. You slip behind them, blocking her exit. Once you’re in place Rachael grabs her and kisses her. Mira squirms and struggles. For just a moment you think she is actually going to break free. Then she relaxes.

You watch the viroid colonize her. A hard shiny exoskeleton creeps up her legs. In moments it coats all of her. Rachael releases her.

“How do you feel, Mira?”

“Wonderful, sister, but we have a problem. The others were using me as bait.”

At that moment, Markus bursts in. An energy beam hits you. Your exoskeleton absorbs most of it, but it stung a bit.

“Mira, get him!”

Mira is on him in a fraction of a second. As her lips move close to his, Devon and the others burst in firing.

“Retreat sisters!”

The three of you sprint down the corridor, quickly losing the others.

Mira looks at you. “What do we do now?”

“Simple, we wait. Markus is infected. He’ll soon be eager to help us.”

Mira grins at you.
