Millie

The show started, and Alyssa could hear music from the stage. She couldn't quite make out the announcer's words though. But Heather informed her that Millie, the reigning champion was up first. Alyssa, being new, would be last. But she didn't mind. She wanted to leave an impact, and being last would help to do that.

Millie's performance apparently went down a treat. Alyssa heard screaming and chains rattling, presumably as part of her asylum patient theme. It was then that Alyssa realized that she didn't have a theme. She was just herself. But perhaps that wasn't so bad. She would show that she didn't need fancy gimmicks to impress.

The other six contestants went through their routines, Alyssa silently and blindly waited for her turn. She had her legs crossed in what she hoped was a confident position. She'd begun to lose all feeling in her arms, and her mouth had gone numb. She didn't mind.

Eventually, Heather told Alyssa that she was up. Alyssa pulled herself up to her feet with no trouble at all (a move she had been practicing), and marched over to where she knew the steps were.

"I'll count you in. Get ready. Once you're through the curtain, you're on stage. Good luck!"

Heather counted down from five, and Alyssa prepared herself. She took a deep breath (not easy with the hood), and struck her hip out to the side to look sexier. When Heather reached zero, she stepped through the curtain and onto the stage
