Midnight Rendezvous

Amelia kept to the shadows as she headed for the secluded meeting spot that Prince Omar had indicated earlier in the evening. The moon provide just enough light for her to navigate her way through the garden. As she reached the designated area, she felt her heart pounding wildly beneath her diaphanous gown. Her body trembled slightly from excitement and anticipation, which she hoped would be evident only to him. The thought of being alone together brought forth memories of shared confidences and dreams that stretched far beyond the boundaries of the kingdom. Prince Omar stepped out from behind one of the large trees, casting a shadow over himself as he approached her. His gaze was penetrating yet gentle, taking in every detail of her slender form cloaked in darkness. "Your Majesty," he whispered softly, offering her his hand. Queen Amelia accepted it without hesitation, feeling her skin warm up when their fingers touched. As they walked slowly along the dim pathway leading deeper into the garden, they found themselves drawn irresistibly closer with each step taken. Despite their differences, there seemed to be a powerful connection forming between them – something much more than mere curiosity or desire. Amelia chose her words carefully asking Omar what he expected from their relationship. “What do you seek? And how can I help?” This question surprised Omar as well; however, he understood it stemmed from genuine concern rather than manipulation.

Taking courage from Amelia’s sincerity, he admitted that he would like to marry Amelia. Amelia sat down and indicated for Omat to join her. "Omar have you thought about the ramifications for both of us. One of us would have to give up their birth right. Would you be happy moving to Sarella as my husband?" asked Amelia. "Such a decision will affect not only our lives but potentially change the course of history within our lands." The prince fell silent, contemplating the weightiness of these words. After some moments passed, he sighed deeply before replying, "A marriage proposal cannot simply rest solely on lustful desires, though those feelings we share burn hotter than any flame." Reaching for Amelia's hand once again, he continued earnestly, "My love for you goes beyond your beauty and extends deep into your soul." Amelia looked at Omar " Lets say for example you gave up your life here in Julan. After a year would you still feel love for me or would you have begun to resent me?" Amelia asked. It took all of Omar's self control not to pull her close right then and there. But he knew he needed to answer honestly and openly. "In a year's time, if circumstances required such separation from my homeland, I could indeed imagine loving you even more", replied Omar passionately. "Omar I cannot expect you to give up your life here when I am not prepared to give up my life in Sarella." stated Amelia. Her voice held a mixture of sadness and determination. Both **** to part ways, they remained rooted in place.

Omar could see the sense in her words but hearing them did make hearing them any better. Still, he respected her resolve and didn't wish to **** anything upon her. However, it left unanswered questions in his mind regarding whether their mutual affection might grow stronger were they able to spend more time together. Before either of them could delve further into their thoughts, they heard footsteps approaching nearer to their hiding place. Amelia grabbed Omar's hand tightly and pulled him swiftly toward another tree. Crouching low behind its protective foliage, they watched as two guards strolled past without giving them a second glance. Once the coast was clear, Amelia let go of Omar's hand cautiously, their hearts thumping loudly inside their chests. It was then that they both agreed for the time being they remain professional in their interactions. Queen Amelia decided to return to her chambers as her absence may cause suspicion among her ladies in waiting. As she walked back to her Bed Chamber she felt the wetness on her cheeks as they tears fell from her eyes. In this moment, she realized that no matter how hard she tried to deny it, she loved Omar too much to risk everything for their love. Even after they separated, she couldn't stop thinking about him. As she laid in her bed she consoled herself with the thought that being so far apart they would forget each other. She turned over in her bed and was soon falling into a deep dreamless sleep.
