Chapter 80 by Jpyric Jpyric

He stares in the direction of the compound, lost in thought.

The next several days are surprisingly uneventful, with the three of you falling into a comfortable routine. Of course, with Lili’s seemingly insatiable appetite for sex, there’s plenty of excitement happening at home, but otherwise it’s just day by day. Not that you’re complaining! Emi and Lili are a joy to be around, and you manage to find time in between work and ‘playtime’ to simply relax and have fun together.

One thing you notice is that it’s not long before Lili’s presence attracts less attention. It seems that people are accepting Hybrids as simply a fact of life, like a dog or cat would be. While this does make life easier for you, it feels odd that they’re essentially treated like pets. Emi continues to use a disguise when she comes out, and as far as you can tell she’s treated like a human, though her eyes and scars sometimes draw attention.

You do make plans for the weekend, however. Sam has been texting with you almost constantly, and you decide that you want to take her on a proper date, rather than the meeting at the bar you had previously. Encouraged by Emi, you offer to take Sam to dinner and a movie. There’s no hesitation in her acceptance, and when you tell Emi and Lili, both Hybrids are almost as excited as you are. It seems Sam has made an impression on both of them. And it seems Sam is excited as well, as she even offers to pick you up for the date, saying it makes no sense to drive separately. You agree, and make plans for Saturday night.

Later in the week, you receive a letter. It’s unusual, as it’s a hand written, personal letter, from Harold of all people. Intrigued and a bit confused, you open it. The handwriting is neat and precise, and the message is right to the point.

Andy,

I apologize for the rather archaic method of communication, but I’d rather not leave a digital trail. You can never be too careful, after all! I will keep this short. I’ve come across some information I’d like to share with you. If you could come by my estate this Sunday, it would be much appreciated. Oh, and if you could convince your doctor friend to join us, that would be ideal.

Harold Albright

After reading the letter, you show it to Emi, who agrees with you that you should probably go. After all, there seems to be no downside. And if he thinks theres something you need to know, you should probably hear him out. As for Sam, you’re fairly certain that she’ll leap at the chance to speak with Harold, given her interest in Hybrids. You’ll have plenty of time to talk to her about it on Saturday, though.

It’s going to be a busy weekend!
